Just acquired an old Husqvarna Mondo Mega string trimmer, and I am trying to figure out whether it can do what I want, and if so how.
What I need to do is to cut some small (2-3' tall, 0.5"-1" in diameter) birch in a field, without mowing the whole field. The trimmer came with a broken string head, but I figure if this will work at all, it will take a bladed brush head. Got two so far, but neither one fits the spindle on the trimmer (wrong spindle diameter and/or thread pitch). Also, the guard is very small (4.5" to the center of the spindle at the closest), and even if I could fin the bladed heads on, it looks like they will hit the guard.
Can anyone offer any advice?
--Is the Mondo Mega up to the job?
--If so, does anyone have a suggestion for what type/brand/model of head to use?
--Are larger guards made that would fit it?
Many thanks,
