Ariens zero turn

I can't get the mower to run after sitting down or engaging the arms or the PTO. I've checked the safety swithces and all seem to be closed when the arms are in the out position to crank it, the mowing deck will engage while standing beside the mower after it cranks but when i sit down and engage any thing it goes dead. any sugestions??
