I just bought land here in Ct. It includes 4 or 5 acres of open fields with pretty heavy duty grass/weeds and vegetation. it is mostly flat or gentle sloping pasture really. The previous owner mowed it once or twice a year with a small J.D. lawn tractor. I am considering a ZT mower to do the job, something like a Hustler Raptor w/52" deck or maybe the ToroSS5060. My big question to you guys is do you think a machine in that class will be up to the task? We plan on building our retirement home there sometime over the next year and will turn some of the field into lawn, but most of it will stay rough. Down the line I will be adding a small farm tractor with a brush hog, but in the mean time I need something to keep things semi-under control. My pockets aren't real deep. I'd like to limit the cost to under $4,000. Any thoughts?
