John Deere LX 176

Hello all,

New member question. I just picked up a used John Deere LX176 tractor this fall. It was in meticulous shape and well taken care of. I was skeptical on the power because the 14 HP engine is much lower that the newer ones, but it really has some get-up-and-go when you need it and powers up hills no problem. I mainly used it for sucking up leaves and it was awesome for that. Looking forward to testing it on the lawn next spring. It came with a cool matching utility trailer and a core aerator. I've attached a few pictures.

My question is about storing it for winter. I changed the oil, took off and cleaned the mower deck and sprayed it down with WD 40. Put gas stabilizer in the fuel and pulled out the battery to store in the basement. I have it stored down in our shed for the winter so it will stay nice and dry but am wondering if there is anything else I need to do? I did let some air out of the tires but didn't put it up on blocks or anything. And we definitely get mice in the shed so maybe should block up some areas of the engine to prevent nesting? We live in NE so winters are long and cold.
