Husqvarna yth 1542xp clutch problem?

I bought a yth1542xp last year and mowed all year with it fine. This year when i was using it the mower deck turned itself off after about 30 mins of use. The same thing happened about 2 weeks ago and through some continuity testing I came to the conclusion that the pto switch had shorted out (also had some melting around a pin). So i ordered a new switch put it in and it worked. Well this time after the 30 mins of use it shut itself off, I turned the key off and at first it wouldnt start back up, it would turn over and then just sound like the starter was overheated or something (difficult noise to describe). Well i waited a minute or 2 and it started back up, I engaged the mower deck and after about 20-30 seconds it shut itself back off, so I disengaged the pto switch and re-engaged it and it clicked for a second then turned off again.

I drove it home and let it cool down awhile and tried it again later with the pto switch no longer having any effect on starting the mower deck. So I immediately ran some jumpers to the clutch to see if the switch had shorted out, and it clicked and engaged but shut off again with the jumpers. It was really hit and miss getting it to engage with the jumpers. So a friend and I ran some jumper wires with all new connectors to the clutch and put a toggle switch in the power line, and at first it would not engage. So we started touching an extra jumper between the 2 points on the toggle switch and sometimes it would engage sometimes it wouldnt, we tried further down the wiring to the connectors right before the clutch and same result it wouldnt engage immediately but after a few seconds then all the sudden it would engage, just really hit and miss whether it would work or not. Turned the mower off and checked for a click from the jumpers and it was clicking each time, turned it back on then it wouldnt engage at all after that whether we tried the switch or directly touched a jumper.

So after all the effort my question is would the 4 pin relay(or 5 pin?) have anything to do with this problem, or is it more likely that the clutch has gone bad and is grounding out inside of there? If I can avoid ordering the clutch I would definitely do that, but Im not sure if the relay would at all be related to the problem I am experiencing. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
