Husqvarna Mower w/ Kohler Engine not charging battery

Hello all, I have a Husqvarna YTH24K48 riding mower with a Kohler Courage SV725 engine. The mower is a little over a year old. It ran fine at the start of the season, but now is not charging the battery. Also, the head lights are not working. I replaced the bulbs yesterday but they still do not work. I also bought a brand new battery yesterday that is fully charged. I have a multi-meter and check light to use, but I would like some guidance on where I should start.
