I have a Craftsman GT5000 with an ELS725 24HP Briggs engine. I loaned the my mower to my dad to borrow and yesterday he was loading the mower onto the trailer to bring it back to me and when he got the mower onto the trailer he for some reason used the park brake pedal to stop it instead of the shift lever and the mower died on him. Now when you try to start to the mower the engine just turns over and over and doesn't ever start. What troubles me is that the engine symptoms don't comply with what he did while loading the mower. And what I mean by that is that when you currently try to start the engine it turns over at an unusually high rate of speed and sounds to have zero compression at all. I'm not sure that stopping the mower incorrectly could have caused the valves to stick open or any of the other compression loss faults to happen. Has anyone else had this experience or maybe know where I should start with my troubleshooting procedures? Just a little background on me, I've been a diesel mechanic for 12 years and I've been employed as an army federal technician for 8. So I'm not an inexperienced operator with a bunch of shiny new tools that have never been used lol. Thank you for any help possible.
