I bought an older Ferris 36" walk behind about 10 years ago and it has served me great for my 1/2 acre property. some time ago the trans started acting up when you put it in 1st gear. it would go a bit then nothing...
I knew something was up, but it wasn't on my priority list, so I just used 2nd and 3rd most of the time. Now 2nd is doing the same thing and I have to use 3rd and above...can anyone point me in the right direction to fix the problem...short of replacing the trans?
I've seen a youtube video of the inside of the trans and understand how it works, but can't imagine why only 1st and 2nd would stop moving. could it just be the shifter/cam piece with the teeth?
