Toro Self-Propelled, key start

Have this Toro 20028, in superb condition since it has been stored for many years. Got new battery, and battery charger.
The mower roared to life first time, using key, after install battery. After that, when the key is turned, ONLY A WHINING NOISE, and doesnt start. Any suggestions on what to look for to cause this? Many thanks.
