Gravely 152Z Charging Issue

I have a Gravely 152z with a Kawasaki engine. It is a FH680V. I have a charging issue. I have 33V AC at the voltage regulator and the voltage out varies. I have replaced the regulator and it was getting 14.5 volts out but never reaching the battery. but it was not constant it was only getting good voltage out part of the time. I am not sure what else to check at this point.

I hook it to the trickle charger and mow several yards and one large yard and by the end the battery is so dead that it will not even pull the clutch in for the deck. I have had the battery checked and it shows that it was good.Pease advise.

I recently broke the main drive belt and had to replace it and in order to do that I had to disconnect and reconnect the electric mower deck clutch. I do not believe this is related at all but shortly after this is when I started having the problem.

Thanks

Craftsman 917.387410 Push Mower Nightmare

So, this all began 2 years ago when this Craftsman mower was given to me by a friend. Worked fine, but I didn't yet have my shed build and left it out during a rainstorm. I went to start it afterwards and heard a loud pop and the carb then looked like it exploded with a big puff of white mist, and wouldn't start. I then rebuilt and re-rebuilt the carb over a 6 mos. period to get it to work with no avail. I did eventually get it to run, but the rpms were way too high, so knew something was still wrong. I didn't buy a new carb at the time since Tecumseh carbs are like $85.

Recently I saw on ebay they had new aftermarket carbs same as Tecumseh for $20, so I said why not and bought one. I installed everything, and same issue, starts but revs way too high and fuel even starts to pour out the end of the fuel hose where it attaches to carb, like it's being force flooded or something. If you move the throttle manually it will calm down into a normal RPM zone, but the second you let go it's right back to crazy high rpms. I've heard these are symptoms of the governor not doing it's job, but have never delved this deep into a lawn mower repair so don't know what to look for.

I started taking the whole thing apart today. I got to the flywheel but couldn't get it off. Took the big bolt off holding it on, which I assume is the only thing holding it, but the thing just wouldn't come off. Also took that little plate off on the side as well as the front of the crankcase to get a good look at the valves. Maybe someone here can shed some insight as to what might be wrong, and perhaps even how to proceed to check if rest of engine is working properly. Here are all the pics:

This is the way I had the linkage: (pic sent to me from someone awhile back):

Dead battery

Hello. I'm new to the forum and wanted some direction on how to repair y Mom's riding mower. She tells me that she charges the battery (new battery) and mows 1.5 acres. Parks the mower to clean under the deck and when she attempts to restart the thing will not start. She places the battery on a charger for a little while and it starts. Any ideas on what is going on with the mower? Thanks

Toro Titan won't move need help

I just purchased a used toro Titan with a 60 inch deck . The guy I bought it from tried to change the drive fluids managed to drain them and install new filters in it along with oil but said he couldn't open the vent plugs on the drives. He tried to get it moving but said he couldn't figure it out and just bought a new machine. I bought it anyways thinking it would be a quick fix(I was wrong). I managed to open the vent plugs and had fluid coming out wheels started to turn after I followed the instructions in the manual but when I gave it throttle the wheels stopped turning. I managed to get one side working(left side) but when I give it gas it stops again. but the other side I'm getting nothing. I'm looking for any info or ideas as for what to try next. Could he have burnt out the drives and if so where do I find replacements? Paid next to nothing for the machine so I think it's worth fixing

V211 Resto

New to forums, long time friend to snapper though.

Got this complete aluminum V211 for free from a buddy when he sold me a v125 Wisconsin robin snapper for 15 bucks he just threw in the v211. The robin will be saved for later it sat outside for a longgg time.

So first I cleaned this deck and used Plastidip black for the deck which came out very very nice , will post further pics upon finishing pieces, handle and brackets will be plastidip red; (am thinking about transplanting a monster robin on this baby  )

Tuff Torq Oil

Hello folks, I have a Snapper EMLP21601E self propelled mower with a Tuff Torq 3 speed gearbox s/n: 192156-24140.

having drive problems with the gearbox.

Have opened it up & all seem's ok inside, the cone clutch looks to be serviceable so i'm going to wash it out & reassemble it with new oil / grease.

Does anybody know what lube goes in the box & how much?

Any help gratefully received.

Added some LED lights to my Raptor SD

So the last time I mowed, I finished just as the sun was going down so my last 5min or so was in low light. I decided that I wanted to look into adding some lights to the mower. I looked at Hustler's light kit, but for $200 I thought I could do much better for a lot cheaper. I knew I wanted to use LED's because I didn't want the lights to draw too much power from the mower's battery. I looked at a lot of options, but I chose to go with some low-profile strip LEDs that use double-sided 3M tape to mount. I also purchased a pre made wiring harness to ease the install. I think it turned out pretty good.

Lights Off:

Lights On:

Switch:

The pictures really don't do the lights justice. They are surprisingly bright for how small they are. I am going to try to get some pictures with them on outside on the lawn tonight to show how bright they really are. I'm happy with how it turned out and I've only got about $30 into the whole project right now. Let me know what you guys think.

Do You Pull A Dump Trailer With Your Zero Turn Mower?

If so, what's the maximum weight you'd estimate you've loaded the trailer with and away you went?

My Toro MX5060 didn't come with a hitch, so I ordered one through the dealer I bought it from. I told him I needed to occasionally haul stuff with my dump trailer. He never said one word about hauling weight maximum with my mower and I was too dumb to ask...

At this point, I've probably hauled a 100 loads of varying weight from very light to possibly 300/400 lbs. to the burn pile approximately a 1/4 mile behind my house.

The trailer is a small one that I would guess doesn't weigh over 75/85 lbs from Northern Tool. If I recall correctly it's a 17 sq. ft. It's great for hauling firewood, limb litter, mulch, etc.

And you?

Do you haul with your ZT mower?

John Deere 111 starting problem

My John Deere 111 is older than I am and I've had to do a lot of work on it but I'm far from an expert. The last time I used the mower it stopped running and I thought it was the battery so I charged it. Now when I go to start the thing, I hear a single click and that's it. I took off the starter cover and the plastic gear is fine. What should I try next?

Thanks for your help!

No compression with old Briggs?!?

Hi,

I'm decently experienced with small engine repair and decided to help my neighbor fix his old MTD push mower. It had been sitting for awhile and I expected the carb to be clogged but we got it to start up for 5 minutes before it died and wouldn't start. I ordered a carb repair kit, new governor spring, and new air filter as those parts were damaged or worn. Installed them all and went to start it up. Nothing....not a sputter, not even a glimpse of life. I clean the spark plug, adjusted the gap, and reinstalled....still nothing. I then pulled the plug and put my thumb over the hole and tried to start it up. There was no compression at all. So then I decided it was probably the valves. I pulled off the head and sure enough there was deposits and pieces of something brittle like carbon that were stuck under the exhaust valve. Pulled both valves and saw some damage on the valve stem of the exhaust valve. Ordered a new valve, lapped both valves, and reinstalled. Checked to make sure that they actually seated. Then I reinstalled everything with new gaskets. Went to fire it up and there was still nothing. It backfired a little bit out of the exhaust but wouldn't start. I checked compression and sure enough it wasn't there. I'm about to pull my hair out....what is going on?

I just spend 15 minutes replying to a thread on "lawn vs garden tractors," When I pressed "preview post" I lost the text and was prompted to "register" This is not the first time and very frustrating. Spend some time testing this site software. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Mower deck Deck for Ariens EZR 915023 - 48"

Hi, I picked up a non-working Ariens EZR 2048 (915023) and have been slowly bringing it back to life. The tractor has no deck though, and I'm finding it very difficult to find one for it. Does anyone have any advice on where I might be able to get a used one? To order all of the parts and piece and new one together would cost around $1200! Are there any others decks that are compatible with my tractor? Thanks to anyone that can point me in the right direction!!!

Suffolk Engine Help

Hi All,

I know this is a fairly long shot as this is an American forum and I need help with a British mower but does anyone know whether the crankshaft from the 75cc cast iron Suffolk engine is the same as the one in the 98cc cast iron engine?

Thanks in advance,

Self Propelled 21" 173cc OHV Won't start

This little mower has ALWAYS started quickly but after storage for approx 8 mos I'm having a problem getting fuel to the carb. It will start right up with car cleaner directly in the carb so I disconnected the fuel line and find fuel flowing. I thought bad gas would be the problem so replaced. Still won't start. The fuel reservoir has gas but can't see that it is getting to the carb. Any suggestions? I didn't think the fuel filter was the problem since it was getting gas through the line.

Thanks, Rick

Craftsman lawn tractor 917.288516 year 2013 overheats

L t was used 1/2 season last year the mower was purchased new in 2013. I have a one acre yard thick grass, mowes about 1/4 of the yard gets too hot stops running. Cools down in 15 to 20 minutes starts up and runs again. What am I doing wrong?

Newer Centurion 3250 generator, white smoke

My father in law brought me his fairly new Centurion 3250 generator. It has very little use on it. He said it started smoking and wanted me to take a look at it, not that I'm better than a real mechanic, just cheaper! Anyway, I gave it a once over. I started it up, it ran fine, no smoke at first but then a steady, light smoke from the muffler. Seemed to look and smell like a whiter smoke than blue, more like a mixture of white and blue, but then again it was night time when I checked it. I drained the fuel and dropped the bowl on the carb, all very clean. I took off the valve cover (OHV) and checked the gap, they were both pretty loose so I set them at the proper clearance. I checked the spark plug and was surprised that it was pretty fouled considering how clean everything else was. I cleaned off the plug, checked the gap and put it back in. I checked the oil and it seemed way overfilled, running out of either plug when removed. I drained out a little of that oil until it was halfway between the H and L marks. I couldn't find anything major that stuck out to me. There were no adjustment or mixture screws on the carb. I started it up and it still ran fine, no smoke at first, but then it started again. The longer it ran the heavier it got, still not a whole lot of smoke, just noticeable. I noticed that when I manually bumped the throttle to higher rpm's the smoke cleared out briefly, but then started again when it was at normal running rpm's.

My father in law is pretty meticulous with his tools, he always kept fuel stabilizer in the generator when not in use, always kept them in the garage, etc.

I wish I could give you the engine info, seems like these days they don't want you to know anything about the engines they use. It looks like a generic 10 hp horizontal shaft OHV engine. Similar in setup to a Robin or LCT. Hopefully the engine details won't be necessary, this seems like a pretty general problem.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

John Deere Riding Lawn Mower

I'm in the market for a John Deere Riding Mower. I want it for mowing my acre of land in the summer and for removing the snow in the winter. I was looking at the D125 and the D130. Any suggestions???

Mower randomly shutting off

Hey guys, started having this issue last week and not sure what it is. I'll be mowing along and the mower will randomly just shut off without any warning. Mower has about half tank of fuel in both tanks; tried switching tanks to see if it was maybe related to one side and it still does it. It just had a new fuel filter put on it. Its a 2010 Z4 with 27 hp kawasaki. I'm wondering if the fuel selector switch block is maybe clogged. Only thing I can think of. After it dies it will start right back up no problem. Mower only has 120 hrs on it.

Craftsman Rider Problem

Hello- Thanks for reading my post. I'm having an issue with my Craftsman Rider. It's an old rider so don't believe its hydrostatic. These are my symptoms. I put it in gear and it cuts for awhile but then just stops....engine keeps running and it keeps cutting but wont go forward. If I can get it to start moving again, and I make a turn, it clunks. Seems like the power is hesitating, also because I can barely make it up hills most of the time Don't know if it's something transmission related?? Thanks!

Belt slips in higher gears

I have an old JD 242 lawn tractor. It has 6 forward gears. I use it for lawn sweeping and pulling small trailers. Lately the drive belt seems to be slipping in gears 4-6 when I am pulling a load or if am on a steep incline. I hear a squealing sound. I figure the belt has stretched or I have an idler pulley issue. I wonder if anyone has had this same issue with this model lawn tractor. Have given quick look see at pulleys and belt and nothing jumps out at me. Thanks for any comments.

Walk behind HRR2168VKA smart drive broken: self propel stopped working

Hi.

I was mowing and all of a sudden the forward motion of the mower stopped and the Smart Drive Control paddle felt all loose. It feels like maybe the cable broke or came disconnected.

My question is: Where and how do I look to see if the cable is broken?

Also, might it also be the drive shaft malfunctioning which could cause this problem?

Thanks,

5 HP Briggs will not idle-Runs wide open

Hello Guys:

I have a 5HP Briggs side drive motor that will not idle. It will only run wide open. All the linkage moves freely. The governor on the side of the motor is suppose to go up when the motor is running. For some unknown reason it does not. This governor is adjustable. It does not make any difference where I set it to. I took the block of another one apart to see what is controlling it and it is just a lever not in contact with anything. I'm not sure what makes it move in the first place. Does any one know what to do?

Thank you in advance for any ideas.

Who Wears A Surgical Mask When Mowing?

I do.

I buy Flents High Filtration Efficiency Ear-Loop Mask, (that's what's printed on the box) in other words a surgical mask.

They come 20 to a box and are very inexpensive at Walmart.

With the massive amount or airborne particulates produced when mowing with a zero turn, I had to find something to keep from inhaling all that crud. I tried the kind of masks for painters and they were uncomfortable and got in the way of my sunglasses. I then tried tying on a bandanna, but couldn't get enough air and they wouldn't stay in place.

But the surgical masks work like a charm and keep me from having a lungful of crud.

Anyone here, besides me, use them?

2000 psi 1.5 gpm Pressure Washer - Orifice Size?

Hello. I recently acquired a NorthStar 2000 psi 1.5 gpm electric pressure washer. I was told that it needed repair due to being used with well water, and it was sitting idle for two years with a tag on it that read "needs repair." I fired it up and found that it worked flawlessly. I ordered the correct Cat Pumps oil and changed it. I know you can use generic non-detergent SAE 30 oil as a substitute, but I opted for the OEM stuff ($15 per quart including shipping from Northern Tool.)

Anyway, most of the nozzles were missing except for the yellow and the white ones.

I ordered a set of 5 nozzles online, non-OEM. The smallest orifice size they had available was "3.0," but I believe these were listed as being compatible with 2.0 gpm or 2.5 gpm pressure washers. I was not able to find anything beneath a 3.0 orifice size, even though my pressure washer has a lower gpm rating than what these nozzles are listed as being compatible with.

They have no arrived yet, but I am curious as to if these will function correctly.

Also, the lance on this pressure washer is odd. It isn't a straight tube, but has a sort of arc in the tubing. It makes it somewhat difficult to spray because you have to tild the entire wand at a strange angle. It looks like it came this way from the factory.

NorthStar's most recent 2000 psi 1.5 gpm pressure washer appears to come with a straight lance. What is this curved lance generally used for? It is not curved enough to be for gutter cleaning. It just seems strange and not very helpful in any particular cleaning situation that I can think of.

Generic Photo of their latest model with pneumatic tires.

1978 lawnboy# 5275

Just picked this mower up off the side of the road. Got it all cleaned up and while tuning the carb I managed to let it run too lean for too long. Now the mower has very little compression and I am looking to rebuild it if I can find proper parts. And yes I was running mixed gas.

Are there parts available for this motor D-601?

I have checked online and have confused myself more than anything. From what I have read the original piston had 3 rings and by the looks of it the new replacement that you can find online is a 2 ring piston. Saying that I also read that to convert to the new piston you also have to change the rod as the pin is a different size.

The other problem I am having is that most suppliers only ship to the states and I am in Canada.

Anyways a friend of mine is tearing into the motor to see how bad the damage is. I know the crank seal is bad and will have to replace that for sure.

If anyone can shed some light on this for me that would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mower deck Tiger Cub getting clogged up with grass

I have a 48" Scag Tiger Cub with about 900 hours on it. When I mow it almost always gets filled up with grass around and above the blades, causing it to have a very uneven cut. I went to my local dealer and asked what the problem could be. They said someone could have bolted a baffle on the deck for mulching, so I looked and everything is welded to the deck but there is a baffle surrounding all the blades very closely. I was wondering if Scag has made a specific deck for mulching in the past? If so, is there anything I could do to fix it?

GCV160LA0 S3A Engine Not Starting Question

Purchased a Troy-Bilt Troy-Bilt TB130 160-cc from Lowes last spring Model #: 11A-B2AQ711 and has run like a champ until last Friday.

Mowed grass two weeks earlier mower ran fine, I tried to use it this past Friday and would not start. Checked the spark plug and it was black and I knew I was close

so I replaced it with a new one and it seemed to almost catch but only sputtered. I check and cleaned air filter. I called a Honda Serv. Ctr. and talk to a rep who

told me that even though it may still be under warranty that they had been mostly seeing Ethanol issues and Honda was not honoring fuel issues.

Now since day one, I have used the fuel stabilizer every gas purchase, purchase in small quantities and shook the gas can before every fill up. But from what I've read

Ethanol is brutal on small engines. When I replaced the spark plug, since it had been two weeks I disposed of the small amount of gas I had in the gas can, drained the

Carburetor and fuel tank and started fresh. Also I run Premium Grade to get the best Octane. So please let me know if this is over kill and regular grade is okay.

So I pretty sure I'm getting a spark, fuel is getting to the Carburetor but if it is an Ethanol issue, what problems are past the Carburetor if any? Could it just be the Carburetor?

Do I need to pull the air cleaner housing and get the number of the old Carburetor or do I just use the Honda model/serial number to order a replacement Carburetor and Gaskets?

One thing I did notice last time was a backfire during one of my starts after emptying the grass clipping bag. It did do that a couple of times last season but no pattern.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Walk behind Drive belts on JD walkbehind (bunton knockoff)

I have a belt drive 48" mower that is very solid, but the drive is lacking. I have a hilly lot around a pond and this mower won't do the climbing. I purchased new belts, but it wasn't an improvement. The drive, when you feather out the grips, bounces a bit until it catches. It does a fair amount of slipping. There is a tensioning spring that compresses the 2 tensioners to provide friction. I tried drilling an additional hole so the spring was tighter. That didn't seem to help either. I have tried other adjustments with the linkage, but made no progress and there is a balance between the drive and braking system that you need to maintain.

I am including a picture of the drive mechanism with the hopes that someone here has owned or serviced one. Is it a lost cause? The mower is in great shape with exception to the drive.

I just purchased a used Simplicity express. It is a couple years old. It ran fine where I bought it, but I got it home and the next day started to mow the lawn. I made one pass and a big puff off white smoke came from the exhaust and the engine stalled. I checked the oil and it is now a little low. The mower starts and runs but there is still some oil coming from the exhaust. I checked the breather hose, it appears to be working properly. Could it be the head gasket? Don't want to tear into the motor if I don't have too. What should I check next?

Do You Throttle All The Way Down Before Turning Off The Engine?

Or, when you quit mowing, do you shut down the engine at full throttle and not concern yourself about it?

My old tractor style 46" deck, Craftsmen, powered by a 24 Hp, B & S Intek engine's manual never mentioned having to do this. So, I always left it going full blast when I killed the engine. I sold it to my next door neighbor with 350 hours on it and he is now running it with over 500 hours on it and he doesn't worry about shutting it down at idle.

My Toro manual says to idle all the way down, wait a minute and then turn off the engine.

What do you guys say?

Will this lawn ever grow thick, green grass?

I have a customer that recently got a new house. The customer wants fertilizer/lawn lime spread. I don't know if this lawn is worthy enough. I don't want to waste money, or the customers time? I need opinions. Pics in next post.

Crepe Myrtle Root Off shoots

My question is " How do I kill the off shoot plants that are coming from my crepe myrtle roots in my flower bed ? I've tried cutting them off time after time but they keep coming back. I've had the crepe myrtle for a few years and it's never been this bad. Is there any thing I can do other than pulling the crepe myrtle up to stop this ? Any advice would be appreciated.

compression reading

What would you say would be the minimum compression reading on any small engine for it to run right. I understand that a leak check is tons better. Just need a base number for a compression test so I can run a quick test then if need be run a leak down test

Best Toro Dealer

Hello Forum. Please let me know if anyone has had experience with any Toro dealer in and about Easton PA. I live in Phillipsburg PA and am very close to Bethlehem and Easton PA. I need some help from the pros please

So I have a customer with a yard i just have no idea what to do with. Im hoping i can get some help/tips from yall on what to do.

Their HOA wants them to get rid of the long weeds. What would you use to get rid of them without killing the rest of the yard? Also, as you can tell in the picture, half of their front yard refuses to grow. I havent mowed the short area in over a month and it just doesnt grow. I mow these customers biweekly. What can i use to help this yard grow? We are located in North Dallas so its pretty hot here.

Please help me decide.

Hello Forum. I am researching which ride on mower I am going to buy. I have it down to four mowers: the Toro Grandstand, the Toro Titan MX5480, 54", Toro Z Master 2000 and the Titial Z Master 6000. I am mowing 3 acres with a three rail fence that surrounds the entire property. New looks good particularly because of the 0% interest Toro is offering. I would go for a used one if the piece was in good shape. Please let me know if anyone has done a comparison of the units I mentioned. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Which unit do you like best.

PS: Since I am looking for a good unit should I be considering a diesel engine? Please let me know.

Thanks Very Much

Toro Timemaster 30 - bad piston and cylinder

on my 3rd summer with the time master 30 and have not had any of the reported issues yet. However, the piston has gouged the cylinder wall and both will need to be replaced. I have opened up the engine and know what is needed, however, I cannot find any location online that sells the parts...as well, I cannot find a cross reference to let me know which B&S engine model this mower is using.

Any help would be appreciated.

Buying Advice Snapper 22" Self Propelled

Okay I have a question. The following mower is for sale (local) for $80.00. The only problem I see, and the seller has stated it, is that the front right wheel is broken. Other than that I see nothing else wrong.

Is this something to jump on or something I should stay away from?

2012 HRX217EHYA about to go for free on Craigslist! About had it.

Hi Folks, new here, I have a 2012 HRX217EHYA I bought at Home Depot in June of 2012. I mow a 50x75 lot with it, pretty level nothing too challenging.

It mowed perfectly the first year and into August of 2013 when it started really showing problems. I should add that I changed the spark plug and air cleaner before the '13 season along with newly sharpened blades.

I also emptied the gas in Fall of 2012 (as I did in Fall of 2013) and let it run until it quit then stored it in a 65-70 degree drive-in basement.

Getting to August of 2013, the mower started showing an issue of sputtering and bucking and usually dying when the blades were engaged. After it would die, it might take 20 pulls until it would finally pop sputter and belch until it would smooth out. Usually after that if you tried to re-engage the blades it would kill the engine again. Somehow with all this we'd manage to get the lawn finished. Gas never older than 2-3 weeks, stored in a self-venting safety container.

Took it under warranty to a Honda power products dealer and gave them $55 for the priviledge of giving me a new spark plug and air filter which I had changed a few months earlier. They pronounced it 'fixed' and got one lawn mowing out of it till it was back to it's old tricks.

Drained the gas at the end of the season and put it away.

This Spring 2014, no new spark plug or air filter since I had run it about an hour with the ones the shop replaced. Right away same thing, sputtering, bucking, dying when the blades are engaged. I'm sick of it, and I'm ready to put it on Craigslist to the first person that will take it.

Here are some examples:

Cold start:

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? Going back they are insisting changing the filter and plug before doing anything. Pointless as I had one mowing with them We've been borrowing the next door Murray walmart mower this year.

JD LX 277 mower engages then stops

I have a used JD LX 277. Motor startsand runs fine after a new air filter, but now when the mower is enagaged it only mows about 5 feet then the blades shut off the mototr continues to run. I can shut the blades off with the switch and start them again to mow about 4 feet, then the blades shut off again. Frustrating since I have 5 acres to mow. Any ideas what my issue might be?

thanks!

Raptor sd 54" or Gravley ztxl48

I am about to buy a hustler raptor sd 54 in on Friday, I also looked at the gravley zt xl. The reason I am leaning more toward the hustler is the blade tip speed is a lot faster as well as the ground speed. I also like the tire size on the raptor sd. Anyone have a opinion on the 2 mowers? Also the hustler is 200$ less than the gravley with the 48" deck.

Anyone else into traditional wet shaving?

After shaving every single day for 20 years while in the Corps, it was not exactly something I enjoyed. Fast forward a few years and I found a way to enjoy shaving again. I got into old fashioned double edge razors, straight razors, brushes, cream and soaps. It's a whole different world than electrics and expensive cartridges. Picking out the days razor, brush, soap/creme, blade after shave, etc.. is almost a hobby and less of a chore. Anyone else?

Starting a new business

Hi everyone, I am new here and thought I would go to the experts with this question.

A friend of mine is starting a lawn maintenance business and will be doing both large properties and smaller yards. He will be eventually be purchasing a self propelled walk behind mower for trimming around bushes and tight areas. But for now wants to know what is the optimal size mower deck for zero turn radious for a lawn maintenance business. A large 60", or 54" or 48" if you could only buy one right now what would you suggest?

I'm a new member and have a few questions

Hello from Schenectady NY where the grass just keeps on growing so fast my 40-year old Bobcat can hardly keep up.

Two weeks ago I was in the yard and my neighbor was mowing his lawn when all of the sudden he hit a rock and his 2-year old John Deere 22" JS26 walk behind mower came to a screeching halt. After several restart attempt she gave up rolled it out to the street with a "FREE" sign on it. The next morning I approached him to see if he would mind if I claimed it. Sure enough, I parked it next my 40-year old Bobcat, a machine I could disassemble and reassemble just about as quick as my M-14 when I was in the Army a long time ago.

Yesterday, a rainy stormy day allowed me to take a look at it. I removed all cowling, starter, flywheel, blade and hub.

Then gave it a good cleaning to get to know it. I must say, I can't understand JD engineering such a steel, built in spline instead of woodruff-key, so bullet proof. I was hoping for a sheared key. Next I pulled the flywheel. But noticed that the mag was scraping it. The woodruff key and slot seemed OK. I REASSEMBLED IT AND ADJUSTED THE MAG TO 12.0t . . .all seems ok. I will attempt to start it tomorrow, after my neighbor goes to work. Don't want him get upset if it works. Could be that it won't start . . .in which case it has internal damage with the crank, cams or valves. I searched the net for a B&S series 700 short block to no avail.

This might end up being the cleanest JD walk behind on the scrap heap. Keep your fingers crossed.

ATTACHMENTS FOR 2014 HUSTLER RAPTOR SD 54 INCH

Hello, everyone, my name is Lawrence and I just purchased a raptor sd w/ 54 inch deck. Im very excited about my purchase. I have a question about the accessories. Filters for the M-ZT 52

What kind of filters are you guys running on your Kaw powered Husky M-ZT's with the ZT 3400 drives ? My Kaw engine manual doesn't give me a number for the oil filter at least I haven't found it yet, I think it might be 49065- 7007. And my parts manual says the filters for the ZT-3400 drives are 539-113466. I did a search on this number with no luck, I found Hydro gear filters but not my number. My dealer wants 28.92 ea. for this filter I would think I could surely do better than that elsewhere , thanks.

Recommend me a mower for 1.25 acres please.

Hello all, I am new to the site. I recently purchased a home on 1.25 acres and am on the market for a zero turn. The property is flat with very few trees. As of right now, I am debating on the Hustler Fastrak SD, but I how no experience with any of the mowers on the market. Of course I am like most, I would like the best bang for my buck and would love to spend less that the $7,000. However, $7,000 is my max. What would you buy? Deck size? etc, etc...

New Owner (RSD 48") with some questions

Hello everyone. I just purchased my Hustler Raptor SD 48" this weekend and I love this thing! I feel like I got a great deal from my local dealer because he matched the 10% military discount that Lowe's was offering and delivered it for free. I had no intentions of buying from Lowes because I wanted to have the dealer behind me for service and such. If anyone lives in the Central FL area, message me and I'll be glad to share my local dealer's information with you. My last mower was a 21" Poulan push-mower that I have used for the past 8 years. I finally got tired of push-mowing in the 100 degree heat and humidity of FL summers. I really love my new Hustler and took my time deciding on which one to buy. This site was a great resource for me during my search and I appreciate everyones input on previous threads. I'm glad I went ahead and stepped up to the RSD over the standard Raptor because I plan on having this mower for a very long time.

Here are a few questions I've come up with and I'd appreciate any information you guys could share with me:

1) I live in a residential neighborhood right now with about 1/3 of an acre. I know this mower is overkill for my current situation, but my wife and I have plans in the work of moving to at least 3 acres in the future. I would have spent the extra $100 to get the RSD 54", but my current yard will not allow it without widening gates and moving things around in the yard. The 48" fits perfectly without modifications so it was the best compromise. However, my front yard has a bit of a slope to it. I'm not 100% sure what the grade is, but I would say it's between 10-15 degrees and maybe a little more in certain spots. I mowed my yard for the first time yesterday and I did have a very slight slip in certain areas. My question is, can I put a wider tire on the rear to alleviate the slipping? I know the 54" comes with the wider 12" tires compared to the 48" that has 8" tires. I think putting the 12" wide tires on my mower would make it too wide for my gates, but would it be possible to put on a 10" wide tire? Would the 10" wide tire be noticeably better than the 8" wide tires that are currently on there?

2) I am very confused by Hustler's deck height lettering. Can someone explain the Letter-to-Height conversion for me? What is a good setting for my residential Bahia grass that I'm currently cutting?

3) I may have to cut my grass in the late evening as the sun is going down. Is there a good option besides the $199 light kit from Hustler?

4) I plan on talking to my dealer to get the heat shield under warranty to protect my grass from burning. Is the engine shroud worth paying $70 for?

Here are some pictures of the mower. Sorry for the messy garage. That is my next project.

Oregon 1/2HP Blade Sharpener

Friend of mine has a JD Z930A identical to the one I had and he purchased a 1/2HP Oregon blade sharpener, well he calls me over the weekend and shows me the blade he tried to sharpen. Wow his blade was really jacked up, that grinder grabbed his blade and blue spot the heck out if it in a couple of spots which if you know metal you know what it is, but for the ones that don't it overheated the blade.

So I came back home and picked up a box of brand new TCU15881 JD blades which are the high lift blades for our 7 Iron Decks, anyway I check the setting of his grinder which was 1/8" inch to the wheel, up and down pitch was a perfect match for the new blades as well.

We fired up the grinder again and he tried to sharpen the other end, well it was going pretty good and bam the wheel just stopped, so he pulled the blade out with the motor and wheel back to full speed again, so we let it run for around 3 minutes or more to cool itself and he reached me a blade and I tried it.

Well I grabbed the blade and was making sure not to put hardly any pressure at all on it and that machine was like jumping and not cutting the jd blade worth a crap, so I made several passes with a little more surface contact, then I made several more with more pressure on the contact with just a little bit improvement, so here I attempted to make several more with contact like it was suppose to be and it stopped the wheel dead in it's tracks, so I told him that machine is not strong enough for the high lift blades and from what I have seen and experienced here the 1/2hp is just made for the residential blades and where we have commercial mowers it we will have to find something strong enough for those blades.

Now my buddy has a 1/2hp bench grinder, so we take his blade with the blue spots and we clean it up on the bench grinder which it felt like it had enough power to cut the blades in half and then I put a better edge with my metabo and 40 grit sanding disc.

So commercial guys wanting to sharpen the larger commercial blades, I would advise against the Oregon 1/2HP blade sharpener because it will not handle JD commercial blades and I am sure there are more out it will not handle either.

Old style swisher mower blade redesign

I have an older Swisher T1360 mower deck. It takes 3 20-1/2 inch blades with the 3/4" flat side hole. I would like to grind the flat side out of the blade hole and use friction washers and flat washers on each side of the blades. Reason?

Some times the blades spin around the shaft and have to be ground off with a die grinder. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

New Member from Kansas

Hi,

Good to find this forum. I bought a Woods Mow'n Machine 5215 last fall, and find it to be a very nice, heavy machine. Mine came with the Kubota D722-e diesel. Now, if I can only find a manual for this mower online somewhere. I found some manuals on eBay and Messicks has some good diagrams and parts. The mower is a front deck model.

The next time I mow, I will write down the model number and serial number for reference.

Chuck

Husqvarna wheel keeps falling off

I have a husqvarna LGT2554 that am having problems with one of the front wheels, right, keeps popping the "C" clip off which then makes the wheel to fall off. I have bought 5 new "c" clips and they do the same. The washers are there and i believe in correct placement. Thought the new clips were wrong and even got one that had to hammer it on to make sure it was tight but still popped off.

FS76 Trimmer information?

My BIL is cleaning out his basement and brought me an FS76 trimmer/brushcutter. I have not been able to find a manual or IPL online. It has not been run in 4-5 years but seems to have good compression. I think this model was produced in the mid 90's so parts may be hard to find. Any information appreciated.

Husqvarna 7022R...ever heard of it?

Hi all

Thought I would post this in the husky thread. Hoping you guys can answer some questions about the 7022R, so far the only place I've seen that sells it are canadian dealers..just wondering where I could find more info on it, even the husky website has nothing on it. Is it discontinued? Is it a 7021 just remodelled for canada? I'm basically looking for reviews, testimonials, etc, trying to determine how it matches up against the honda hrr2169vka. Here's a link, any help is appreciated

Kohler CV16S 16.5 Hp engine dies after running for few minutes

Have a 16.5 HP Kohler on Craftsman rider that dies after running for a few minutes. Cleaned air filter and I adjusted the mixture to Full Rich to see if it would keep running. It barely runs without dying and always quits when the blades are engaged. Fuel filter seems to have a barely visible amount of fuel in it at any time, so I checked fuel line from tank and it is unobstructed and fuel flows freely. Fuel line from filter to carb is also open and unobstructed. (There is no fuel shut off installed) Could it be a fuel flow problem inside the carburetor? Have also heard that ignition modules can become susceptible to heat over time, but considering the fuel filter never fills with much fuel and the fuel lines are clear I still "lean" towards it being a carb problem. Any thoughts or experiences with this? Thanks.

looses charge when sitting for a week LA100

My LA 100 riding tractor looses is charge when sitting for a week. I bought a new battery, and it does the same thing. Now when I jump it, which I have been doing for three seasons now,LOL. It runs fine, and it is charging because when I shut it off after using it, the lights now work and makes an attempt to start. When sitting for a week or two, it will need to be jumped again. I have been a member here for three years , and have not got an answer yet. Some one said that it might be a diode in the charging system? I wish someone had the same problem so I can finally get a fix on this. Thank you all.

Husqvarna 7022R...does this even exist?

Hi all

been sleuthing the forums for a weeks as im looking to buy a mower. Im from canada, and I keep seeing dealers advertise the Husqvarna 7022R (and F, but I'm interested in the RWD) anyways, I've been trying to search the webs looking for reviews of this damn thing, and it seems like no one owns this thing. Is it just a 7021 with an altered model number for Canada? Heres a link to my local dealer's online page for it:

Husqvarna 7022R 22″ Lawn Mower | Fraser Valley Equipment

anyways, in short, I've had my heart set on the Honda HRR2169vka for a while, but in Canada its $600, so I would drive across the border to pick it up for $399 ( I live pretty close to the border, so no issue there) but, this husky is available in Canada for only $80 more than the $399 American Honda, with the same GVC160 engine, so I've been trying to find more info on it. Can anyone provide more info on the husky? how would it compare to the honda (aside from the engine of course, which is the same). I have a medium to large sized lawn, few obstacles, and the front yard has a slight incline to it, but nothing major. When i first started the search for a new mower I told myself either husky or honda, simply because of the brand reliability that people have told me about, and now here i am. Any help is appreciated.

Fuel Any difference between a 2 stroke and 4 stroke fuel filter?

Hey this isn't related to lawn mowers but my Trabant 601. It's got a 2 stroke 2 cylinder air cooled engine.

James Seabolt's (turbofiat) Library | Photobucket

I wouldn't think much could go wrong with a gravity feed fuel system but boy was I wrong!

First of all I've had a rash of clogged fuel filter issues here lately. Not just with my Trabbi but my Subaru Legacy Baja and my turbocharged Yugo. Maybe just lack of maintanence I don't know.

With my Trabant, I did away with the dash mounted petcock valve and went with a solenoid operated shutoff valve connected to the coil, a conical stone media type inline filter and an inline fuel shutoff valve before both of those. It's got a 6 gallon gravity feed fuel system and a 1/4" fuel line.

I used one of those small stone type conical fuel filters from a lawnmower. Like this one:

These work great on my 49cc two stroke dirt bikes but after a few hundred miles on my Trabant, it clogged up. Under fuel throttle, I was sucking the fuel bowl dry which was leading to backfiring and such.

So I found a bigger filter from Autozone. I don't have a good photo of it but it's much larger and should have done the job. So I was coming home this morning and once again, was going up a hill and the car started running out of fuel and backfiring. This time the fuel filter was not full of crap but when I disconnected the hose after it, fuel just trickled out of it. Made sure the problem was not my solenoid valve.

Pulled a spare filter out of my toolbox, installed it and made it home.

I have no clue was to why this filter became restricted after just 50 miles despite there is very little sediment inside it. Two theories come to mind.

One is the headpressure in the tank with 6 gallons maybe enough to force fuel through it but once the tank get's down to 3 gallons, there was just not enough head pressure to force fuel through the filter. This particular filter looks like it's made of foam instead of the usual corragated cardboard material. It was one of those universal filters at Autozone. I don't think it was for a lawnmower application.

The other theory is the filter material itself. Perhaps the 2 cycle oil in the fuel blinded the filter media over and caused it to restrict flow to a trickle.

I have no idea how much headpressure 6 gallons of fuel forced through a 1/4" fuel hose would be but it's probably no more than 2 lbs if that.

So I went to O'Relieys and picked up a Mr. Gasket screen type filter like this one:

I should mention that the inside of the tank is not full of rust. This is just general garbage that comes out of the pump at the fuel station.

I've been trying to use one of those Mr. Funnels to prefilter my gas before I put it in my fuel tank. I mix up my 2 cycle fuel in 7 gallon batches then pour it in.

So the question is, why am I having so much trouble with these fuel filters?

The one with the stone filter media seems to be the least restrictive but due to the volume of fuel that has to go through it at 25 to 35 mpg, it's probably just too small for a 600cc engine. After all it's supposed to be for a lawnmower or dirt bike.

Yet another type of filter I've been using with 2 strokes is one of those made of corrogated cardboard material. I'm using one of these on my moped:

No problems so far with it but it's only 49cc and get's 100 to 150 mpg.

Does my 2 cycle oil theory sound logical with the last filter I used due to the foam filter media?

If this Mr. Gasket fuel filter does not last either, I suppose I could go with an old fashioned sediment bowl like the one on my 58 Ford 800 tractor!

Water In oil

What does green gas mean?

People,

Opened up a can of gas (red plastic carrying can), a year old, daughters house, and its green. Poured it into anothetr clear container, and theres no water in it. I compared it to another similar can and that can was typical yellowish gas. Is the green gas maybe from someone having added oil fora 2 cycle engine?? Does any company brand have green gas as opposed to all others? Like Some beer companies- they insist on having a green botle when most others are brown........

Older Honda HRT216TDA self propelled cold start questions

I recently changed the carb in the HRT216TDA self propelled project mower I got on crags list that was surging. Once started it purrs wonderfully...

My question is this (I will try to give you as much detail as I can)....

First got mower, moved to full throttle choke, started on about 4th or 5th pull and then I throttle back, but engine surge was really bad.

Changed carburetor.

Next morning wanted to so cold start. Pull to cold start mower, will not hit. When I move the throttle to choke (just past full throttle) on mower will not turn over. After about 4 to 6 pulls, if I move throttle all the way back to slow, it will hit. About 4 pulls later, it starts right up and runs perfect. Am I missing something? Shouldn't I be moving the throttle to choke on cold start and it start then throttle back? Just confused...since new carb is in, is choke to much?

I know I am asking simple questions, but I am on the learning curve...I know start up procedures, so I am not going about this like I am clueless, but it was my first carb change I did not expect the choke thing... and I'm just did not expect to no response when I throttle to choke position and then get it to start when its throttled all the way back to slow.

Is the Honda GCV160 a reliable engine?

Is the Honda GCV160 reliable? Any pros/cons about this motor? Does it have a real carburetor on it, or is it a Governor-Spring carb like on lots of the Briggs and Stratton engines? Any info would be appreciated.

John Deere GT242 Will not pull up hill

Hi,

I have a problem with my GT242 John Deere. We have had it since 1996 and I must say it takes a licking and keeps on ticking! It now gives me trouble when I first start out. I have to give it a little push to get it going forward. Once it is moving I can mow unless I start up to steep a slope. Some of these slopes are not very big. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any comment,

2010 Craftsman 54" YT4500 Loss of drive

The mower will not go uphill and at times barely moves on flat ground. Seems to have more power in reverse than forward (but not by much). There is no noise or any indication that the belt is slipping.

Think it's the Hydrostatic Transmission gone out?

Couldn't find where to check for fluid to see if it was low.

Any ideas what I should check?

Thanks.

I need parts for the left Transaxle Gravely ZT 1540

I have a 2004 Gravely ZT 1540 and have been pleased with it. Now that it is getting older I am needing parts. I have rebuilt the spindles, but could not get parts for them. Seems you have to buy the entire assembly. So, I pulled the bearings and went to Motion Industries and found them.

Now I have an axle that has broken on the left side and can't find an axle or any parts for the trans-axle.

Where can I find parts???? not the entire assembly. :confused2:

All I need is the drive shaft.

Anyone remove top blade for better bagging/mulching?

I feel that I am not getting as good of a mulch cut with this double blade system.

I wonder if the top blade is causing turbulence flattening out the grass before the bottom blade cuts it.

Anyone removed the top blade? I get too many pieces of grass that popup after just mowing.

This is my first few months with my Honda HRX cutting tall Fescue.

Mikuni carb ID and purpose of a brass tube.

Hi Folks. I'm trying to identify the model number of a Mikuni carburettor on my Briggs and Stratton mower motor (1988). The problem is that there is no identifying number or other marks on the carb to help me. The following is all I have "Made in Japan" stamped to the right of the fuel inlet, MIKUNI CORP stamped on the body just above the float bowl and below the idle adjust screw. On the inlet port (24mm [15/16"] dia) beside the throttle assembly there is a Briggs and Stratton stamp with a 'registered' symbol (R) beneath it. The only other mark I saw was the letter R stamped on the carb body between the bottom of the emulsion tube and the side of the carb body where the float bowl fits. It was fitted to a B&S Vanguard V160 single cylinder motor on a Mountfield Monarch walk behind lawn mower. There's also a brass tube that runs parallel to the emulsion tube and I do not know its purpose. I have had the entire unit disassembled, soaked in carb cleaner and thoroughly cleaned. It was reassembled with all new parts from the carb overhaul kit but the motor only runs for a few seconds and then stalls. If I squirt carb cleaner or WD-40 into the air intake of the carb, with the air cleaner removed, the engine runs happily for as long as I squirt. So, fuel starvation is the issue here but everything is clean except... I don't know what the brass tube does. When I search for part numbers for carbs used on my model of mower, for images to compare, I get the modern equivalent, which is unlike my carb. Other similar carbs don't have the brass tube and for those that do, the brass tube is not identified. The tube is about 2mm across and the inner diameter is about 1.5mm.

I'd be grateful for any guidance regarding this please.

Many thanks,

Keith

JD La165 - Whining when mower deck is engaged

Our JD La165 started making a very loud whining noise when engaging mower deck. The belt has been changed, the spindles replaced thinking the bearings were bad as well as new blades put on in case they were bent. There isn't much to this deck don't know what else to check? Don't know if this is sheer coincidence but last time I used it before the noise began hooked up and blasted water under deck to clean out the grass - parked it till four days later to start this viscous cycle over again and midway through noise began? Any help would be appreciated!

Toro MX5060 Questions

Below are questions I've researched and can't find the answers to in regard to the Toro MX5060:

1. Does anyone here know if the control arms are dampened?

2. Other than the total of 4 zerks on the front caster wheels is everything else sealed that would in times past probably had a zerk?

3.How heavy a load can one reasonably pull in a 2 wheel dump wagon? This mower comes with ZT2800 Hyros.

Thanks!

Subaru Robin EX27 electric start wiring question

I got this Robin EX27 with electric start. It didn't have a key switch, which I have ordered, or the cutoff switch on the engine. I want to make sure I wire it up correctly. There are two orange wires that appear to be coming from the ignition coil. I'm guessing that one of the wires is supposed to go to the kill switch on the engine, with the other end connected to the black ground wire in the picture. I think the other orange wire is supposed to connect to the low oil sensor, which this engine does not appear to have so it would not be used, or in this case I plan to connect it to a secondary kill switch. Can anyone tell me if this is correct?

Kohler CV13T shuts off after 5 minutes or so (already read the other posts)

I read the other "shuts off after 5 minutes" threads and I just wanted to check to be sure that the diagnosis is the same for my engine since most of those posts were for electric start, larger horsepower, v-twin engines.

I have a John Deere GS30 Commercial 36" walk behind mower with a 13hp Kohler 'Command Pro 13' engine (CV13T). Pull start only. I just bought this mower used and I replaced the fuel line, fuel filter, air filter, new spark plug, and the engine has fresh gas. It will start very easily, but will shut off after just a few minutes of idling or mowing. With my limited mechanical knowledge, it seems like something electrical is getting hot and shutting off the machine. It shuts down fairly quickly almost like the key was shut off. Sometimes there is slight stuttering for a minute or two before it shuts down, but usually it just shuts right off like you turned off the key. It will restart only when it almost completely cools down. Starting fluid does nothing when it shuts off. Mower does not need starting fluid when cold, and starts pretty easily. I hate to put a ton of money into this thing, so I was hoping for some help on here. Thanks. -Todd

Command Pro CH740 only runs if you hold the key in START position

While mowing yesterday, my CH740 27hp shut off.

From that point on it would start each time I turned the key, then shut off.

I checked the oil level thinking it may be a safety sensor for low oil. Level was fine.

I check the fuel filter, thinking it may be running out of gas. Filter and fuel flow was fine.

It will start every time you turn the key to START, but as soon as you let go of the key and it goes back to the ON position, it shuts off.

I found that if you hold the key in the start position, it will continue to run as long as you hold the key in the start position.

What do you think is causing this problem?

Thanks,

GW

GV150 HR21 honda 1978 mower shuts down - HELP!!

I have a GV150 HR21 Honda 1978 that was my deceased father in laws that my son and I would love to resurrect. It runs great.....for five minutes! After five minutes or so, it just stops. I was lead to believe it might be the CDI ignition coil. They are hard to find, but we finally did find one. Although also from a GV150 HR21 mower, on the spark plug cord it said "-1" as opposed to the original one that said "+2." (Could someone explain this to me?). Regardless, when I put the new used one on, no help, same problem. Runs great for five minutes, then it stops running. If I go out 10 minutes later, ya baby, it starts and runs....you guessed it, for five minutes. So something must be overheating, then shutting down, then after cooling, it can run again.

So HELP! We wanna make grandpa in heaven proud. What is our problem?

Thanks. Gregg

Toro Z Master 2000 48 or Snapper pro s150xt 48

Having trouble deciding ? It seems that toro offers less for the buck. Why? When snapper pr offers the 25 hp vanguard and the 5400 hydros. Toro offers 10 hp kaw fx and the 3400 hydros. Am I missing something. Please help me understand my buying decision.

Do I need to take it in?

I have a Craftsman 5.5hp rear wheel drive (917.377792) mower that loses traction in spurts going uphill. It works fine on the flat. I did the push button drive belt thing which didn't help and actually made it harder to manually push through the loss of traction. Even if I do take it in for repair, I would like to know what may be causing this so I don't get ripped off by the repair shop. I'm a woman and it happens!

Just picked up a commercial 21" snapper

Just picked up a CP216019KWV mower today, commercial Kawasaki FJ180V with the pressurized oil system with oil filter. Only paid $75.00 for this! Runs great

What do you think of the Toro Precision Nozzle series ?

My Toro and Hit pop-up original sprinkler nozzles have all been changed to Toro Precision Quarter and Halves 15' throw. Before I render my opinion, would like to hear from others here about any pluses and minuses of this nozzle.

Shot in the head

The following was posted in what would you do forum

By gfp55 I have to say that I understand both your points of view and I know what I posted before about calling my insurance company, but there is a reason I posted that and not what I love to do.. Back in 1987 a piece of broke into our home and assaulted my wife, stole my car. My wife called the police then me, the cops did nothing that I could see to get the guy. They got an attitude with me for calling every day and me saying that they are not doing a good enough job to find the guy. This went on for months. Make a long story short, I see my car flying down the highway and I'm going the other way, I cross the median and follow my car, I know its my car because I removed all the badges and put wider white letter tires on it the day I got it from the dealer, I ordered it the way I wanted it. 1987 Buick Regal T-Type Turbo White, I installed a panhard rod kit on the rear end and you could see that from behind. The car was the same as a Buick Grand National but mine was a sleeper. Looked like grandmas car but with wide azz tires and a panhard rod kit. I find the guy and he is shoot in the head and is dead. I'm more worried about his blood on my car then him being dead and the cops arrest me, I'm charged and spend 2 1/2 years going though the courts, spend tons of money and spend too much time in jail, get convicted, win on appeal, sue the cops for not doing there job, sue the papers for libel, all told it was close to 10 years out of my life, I win, empty our bank account, we sell most of everything, we retire and move. I don't know if I would do over the same way, but if I did needed to do something like it again I would think things thru very good if you know what I'm saying. I don't trust the COP'S, the courts, the lawyers any farther then I can throw a 57 chevy. They say "don't take the law into your own hands" but they didn't give a about my wife and me. The guy put about 2,000 miles on my car and they say they could not find him, they told me my car was probably gone forever. But yet the sh-t bag was driving my car down the road in broad daylight with no plate, none. When I got my car back the poor thing was all up with weed seeds, crack pipes, burn holes. It got striped in the inpound lot, but they payed me for that, they didn't want to but did. I will not give anyone advice about what to do in a case like that, the guy getting robbed of leaf blows but think before you act, look around and see who is watching, be smart. The cull the herd so to speak.

Is this story legit? How did someone drive a car with a headshot wound? Why did he serve 2.5 years in prison? Did they think he shot the guy? This story is insane if true.

Why does Cub cadet SLT 1550 blow 20 amp fuse after PTO is engaged for about 1 minute

Okay so I went to change my drive belt and then next time I went to use mower. It blew fuse after about 30 seconds and completely died. So here is the trouble shooting I did with no luck. 1) replaced a spindle and one pulley that had shot bearings. Thought this my be causing it to pull too much of load. Still no luck. Tried running mower w/o PTO engaged ...works fine. Run my mower up and down the street with PTO engaged for at least 30 minutes...still no problem...run it over grass at the highest deck setting and it blows fuse within 30 seconds. Battery seem fine with output. The PTO when I pull it off and try and rotate the clutch....it feels very rough with a lot of drag/tension...not for sure if that is normal or not.... Throwing my arms up at this point....cannot believe that it is a coincidence that when I changed my belt that the next time I used it the PTO went out....this unit has about 350 hours on it...also I did check to make sure I put belt on correctly.

HR215HXA with GXV140 engine - Oil leak on crank seal, flywheel end

Newbie to the forum, great to be here. I've never ever had a problem on this outstanding 22 yr old machine but lately it's been slobbering out oil from the crank seal flywheel end. I just completed the repair today (or so I thought) by driving in the new seal with a length of PVC pipe. Since the old seal was not flush with the case (in fact it was roughly 1/4" below the lip) I assumed that I should drive the new seal down to the same depth. I started her up, did about 15 minutes of mowing, and she starts slobbering oil again.

My question then is this. After searching a bit for an answer to this problem, it appears that perhaps I should not have driven this seal to the same depth of the old one. Should this seal in fact be flush with the top of the lip? Should I lube the outside of the seal at all? Thanks ahead for any replies.
