Repairs Replacing the grass chute on a John Deere LT160

Hi,

I have a LT160 with a broken chute. I purchased a replacement from the Deere Dealer, and am ready to install it.

I noticed that there is a gold colored curved rod that holds it in place and allows it to swing up and down for access to the blades.

Does anyone know how to remove the rod so I can replace the chute?

Thanks in advance.

Mower deck not able to adjust power flow deck

I just put power flow bagger on my 48C deck. I can find nothing on the net that tells me how adjust the deck for the power flow. It now leans to one side and cuts streaks in the grass. I have adjusted it until I spend more time adjusting than mowing. Any help would be appreciated. One other thing.... should you not want to bag, do you need to adjust it back to a neutral setting? Thanks, oh yea its a GX345 with a 48C deck.

Toro 20005/Tecumseh engine carb problems governor not working

I have a Toro mower model 20005 purchased around 2007. For some time the mower was not used and I had to replace the carb and gaskets for the intake, etc. When I assembled everything, the governor does not work, the mower runs at high speed constantly. I have tried to make the adjustments that I found on the internet without any success. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Painting My 1988 MTD Lawn Tractor

First of all, I'd like to say,, since I bought this '88 38" 12hp MTD Lawn Tractor, I am thorougly displeased with the Mower.

Every Year I have to spend at least 4 or 5 dollor's on Some little something,, and it just never end's. for example the Seat only lasted 10 year's, Ever body know's a seat ought to last at least 20 year's. The Ignition Switch only lasted 20 year's, an ignition switch should last at least 40 or 50 year's. I've had to replace the Belt's at least 1 time in 26 year's.

And Worst of All,, My Neighbor's have gotten several Brand New Mower's since I got mine. It just really Irk's me,, to see My Neighbor's driveing their Brand New Shiney Mower's,, and I'm still haveing to use this 1988 Mower. My motto is Waste Not, Want Not,, and This thing just keep's going Year After Year.

I replaced the Blade Spindle's about 12 year's ago,, and wouldn't you know it,, they started makeing noise again this Year. Surely Blade Spindle's should last as long as the Motor Still Run's.

Dropped the Deck,, and found that only the Right Side Spindle was going bad. I ordered both,, but will just install the Right Side,, since it is pretty easy to drop the Deck for install.

While the Deck is off, I'm going to Sand and Repaint it. Anybody checked on the price of a New Deck. Before you do,, They cost a Pretty Penny,, and it pay's to keep the Deck in good Shape.

About 12 year's ago,, I put some pain on the Mower,, and I think that the Mower is deserving of some more Sheet Metal Paint again.

Originally the Mower was Black and Silver, and I painted it all Black.

This time, I'm going with Navy Blue and Black. Anybody that has Repainted their Mower, have any pic's to see your Color Scheme? Sure would appreciate it.

Last time, I just used Rustoleum Primer and Paint on the Deck and Sheet Metal. Since the Deck has lasted for 26 year's,, and is still in good Shape,, Rustoleum seem's good enough for me.

If you've got any idea's of a Color Scheme, I sure would be appreciative. Nothing Weird,, Like Flame's or Lightning ,, Just something Nice, Simple, and Plain, so that the Neighbor's will see my Brand New Mower,, that is 26 year's old.

Thanks

Snow blower Husqvarna 1130sbexp rotator cable

Hi, I'm new here. I am trying to help my friend with his 1130sbexp. He needs a chute rotator cable assy. All he really needs is one of the two cables on the assy. Does anyoe know of a source for just the cable? It would be nice to save the assy and just replace one cable instead of the entire assy. The assy p/n is Husqvarna 532420337 also husqvarna 532404974. Either one seems to be correct. I could not find a p/n on just the single cable that is on the assy. If I could get just that cable it would be a lot cheaper than ordering the entire assy. Thank you for any help with this.

Ed-

I just found this great information page.

Actually there are 2 pages. But it's pretty detailed as to how magneto's, flywheels and spark plugs work.

I hope this helps someone.

Here's a little bit:

Quote:

All kart engines use magneto ignition systems. Unlike the ignition system in your car or truck, a magneto doesn't require a battery as a basic power source to run the ignition system. Instead, it relies on principles of electricity and magnetism. When you wrap wire around an iron or steel core, and then change the magnetic field in that core, you induce an electrical voltage in the wire. Magnetically speaking, as the magnetic field of the magnet approaches the field that the wire creates around the metal core on which it is wound, a "potential" develops. The rate at which that potential develops determines it magnitude. It's how a generator works. The more coils of wire you pass through the magnetic field, the more voltage you induce in the wire. Spinning the coils on the armature of the generator past the magnets induces voltage in the armature. That's what powers your trailer lights at the track, or your power tools, or whatever. But it doesn't matter which element, the magnet or the coil of wire, moves and which is stationary. In your engine, the magnets are located in the flywheel or ignition rotor attached to the crankshaft. The coils of wire into which we're going to induce the voltage are located in the coil, which in this case is stationary. So unlike the example above, the magnetic field rotates past the wire, rather than the other way around. But the effect is the same. Moving the magnets past the wire induces......

newbie need advice on residential ztr

Been reading quite a bit and have settled on the 5k price point, but would prefer to keep it at 4k. I have a .4 acre residential lot. For the most part it is all a hill, with the front yard being the only true flat spot. I am looking at the hustler raptor sd or the gravely zt xl at the 4k price point. If i were to jump up to 5k I was looking at the gravely zt hd. I couldn't find anything else with similar specs at the 5k price point.

All of these mowers might be overkill for my yard, but want something to last, but I cat afford a true commercial unit.

Anyone prefer one of these overt the other, or am i missing anything better in that 4-5k range? Any help or opinions appreciated.

I'm currently push mowing it with a old $99 20" bolens. I have an old snapper 5 speed but it needs work and i don't think it would be up to the task of my new yard.

Looks like a lot if mfgr are running 0% financing. Wondering if I can get a better deal right now going into the fall or wait until spring.

HRX217HYA Auto Choke

Ok so I understand how manual choke works and the principle of auto choke. When my mower is cold and I visually inspect the choke plate and it is closed, after mowing and I shut the mower off it is wide open as it should be. My question is this.......When I shut the mower off should the choke stay in full open position and gradually close as the engine cools or should it close ? Now with mine if I take a plastic stick and try to operate the plate the plate doesn't move at all as if it is stuck. I am trying to better understand how a auto choke operates and if its spring actuated, heat actuated or both. Engine backfires through muffler on hot start up (stated in different thread) just trying to somewhat trouble shoot as the local dealer has a 4 week turn around at the moment. The issue is most likely fuel delivery related but hey ya never know.........

Toro Personal Pace Tecumseh won't start spark susoected

I have a Toro with a 1955 CC engine family - 7TPXS,1951BC 6.5 HP Model LV-295XA

I just bought it at beginning of summer used and apparently abused although it started fine when I looked at it. I was told many lies about it, there was a time when it would have set off alarm bells in my head but dealing with cognitive problems from a brain disease now and didn't catch the lies. Anyway, I find out they don't even make this engine anymore, that it isn't worth putting much money in it even though we gave good money for it and after mowing a number of times it began not wanting to start and then once in a while it will start for you. I looked at plug in shade with hand around it and against block as someone pulled the rope and I couldn't see any spark. Took the top covers off and looked at magneto but don't really know what I am looking for, nothing obvious. Then it starts and runs several times within that evening. Now won't start again, tried doing the same things and still won't start. Should add that before I started checking spark I put a new plug and air filter in it. When I take the new plug out it looks a bit black and oily which makes me wonder if it is burning some oil as well. It has had 2-3 times after starting it where it all of a sudden blew a bunch of blue smoke for a very short time and then completely quit which I also didn't know what to think of because I can't remember a mower of mine doing that and it seemed to work fine after that but I have been worried that I got taken, quite obvious now, and that it wasn't going to last long.

I was told it was serviced yearly by the local Toro dealer and that has to be a complete lie given that so many things were not serviced such as air filter, gas tank leaks and the plug looked old and was not a plug the dealer sells. The seller also had this mower off Craigslist and a different one on there by the time we got home. First clue, it was also one he said was his and not for sale. Beware of buying in Pleasant Hills, IA from an older guy that looks respectable, nice house and honest. He's not!

Any help on whether there is any reasonable priced fix for this one are appreciated or whether it is not worth it, a mower mechanic at a Toro dealer told me that it wasn't worth putting much money in to it but always want more than one opinion on that.

Front end issue

Hello all,

I have a Husqvarna YTH20K46 that is about 5 years old. I foolishly loaned it out to a friend and when I went to use it yesterday, I noticed that when driving it on a smooth area it wandered and shimmied back and forth. I got it in the garage and noticed that when the steering wheel is positioned straight ahead, the front wheels are bowed outward, the right one more so than the left (I would say about 10 degrees or more). I contacted up my "friend" and asked him what the hell happened. He said he only issue he had was once while he was turning right he hit a small rut, and it lifted the rear wheels off the ground a bit as it hit the rut. He said he was going "a little quick" at the time it happened.....................

Sooooo. I obviously have some front end parts that are bent. I plan on pulling the front axle off and checking it and both front spindles. I may just go ahead and replace the spindles to be safe, but my question is the front axle. Outside of laying it on a flat surface and looking at it, is there any way to check to see if it is bent? The axle is about $100 and I don't want to replace it unless I have to.

Lastly, any other things I should check?

Pretty pissed right now, but want to get the tractor fixed.

HRC2163HXA MAKA 1094141 Blade Clutch Assembly Bolt Torque Specs

Does anyone know the torque spec for the bolt that holds on the blade clutch assembly? This is for the one bolt in the center, not the two bolts that hold on the blades. Also, what's the best way to stop the engine from rotating when tightening the bolts? Thanks.

1211 hydrostatic blades not engaging?

hello all ,

whilst using the Honda hydro static 1211 today i managed to crash it into a small tree. There seemed to be no outside damage to the ride on mower but upon driving it away it made a very loud high pitched sound which continued until i cut out the engine. The blades will now not engage , you can move the lever to the "blade" position but the blades just wont engage and no sound of it "engaging" if you get what i mean comes from it.

Any diagnosis and advice would be helpful.

Many thanks

Honda HRR216VYA Mower Belt Change Help

Hi,

I found this forum online as I'm struggling with replacing the belt on my mower. It has a lot of slack in it and seems to have stretched out.

Usually on something like this I look around for some YouTube videos on how to change it, however I've run across tow things:-

1.) I've taken the blades off okay, but the center bolt holding on the roto-stop assembly will not come off; it appears to just turn a shaft connected to the engine itself (certainly not as easy as shown here at 1:09 minutes in....it just turns the shaft Belt Replacement (part #22431-VL0-B00) - Honda Lawn Mower Repair - YouTube ).

2.) At the back of the mower, there is no spring and arm where I have to unhook the spring if applicable and swing out the pulley assembly as shown on the same video at 2:17.

Without doing these things, there doesn't seem to be a way to get the belt off and install any replacement.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

GV400 Alternative carb advice please?

I'll get straight to the point...

Bought a ride on mower with a Honda GV400 engine attached but it was missing the carb and, just my luck, it appears that Honda stopped producing the carb I need quite a while ago and there are no new replacements anywhere (especially in the UK).

So clearly I have a few options to my carb problem (buy another engine, wait for the carb to appear on ebay, use an SU carb with a custom manifold ect), but I was hoping maybe someone on this forum has any experience/recommendations for alternative carbs that they know can run on the GV400.

I was also wondering whether the carb from the G400 will fit onto the GV400? Surely it's just the same carb but mounted differently?

Any help or advice would be hugely appreciated!

Thank you in advance.

DRIVE ISSUE

I HAVE AN OLD EXPLORER SERIAL NUMBER 123444 THAT DEVELOPED AN ISSUE. LAST TIME USED IT WORKED FINE, TODAY IT DOES NOT DRIVE ON THE LEFT SIDE. THERE ARE NO LEAKS AND THE CENTER AXLE NUT TURNS, THE HUB AND WHEEL DO NOT. I TOOK THE WHEEL OFF AND THE HUB ROTATES ON THE DRIVE. I DID NOT HAVE A SOCKET LARGE ENOUGH TO REMOVETHE CENTER NUT. LOOKED IN THE EXMARK PARTS DIAGRAM BUT DID NOT SEE THE HUB LISTED. I AM CALLING IT THE HUB SINCE THE WHEEL BOLTS TO IT. SO IT SEEMS LIKE THE AXLE HYDRAULICS WORK BUT THE WHEEL HUB IS DISCNNECTED, HOPEFULLY TOMORROW I WILL GET THE CENTER NUT OFF.

ANY IDEAS OR DIRECTION?

RZT-S 42" leaves center strip of uncut grass in middle of cut

Ok, just as the header says, when I cut I am having to make a lot of extra cuts/passes because of the uncut grass remaining, nearly twice as many. The uncut grass is a strip ~ 1/2 inch wide that matches up with the space that is between the two blades. When the blades are in align there is around 1/2 inch space between them so these blade do not appear to be timed in anyway. With this space, I can't imagine how all of the grass would be cut. When I bought the mower at beginning if summer, the stock blades were horizontal (both), meaning both blades ran from 3-9 o'clock position. I noticed this when I change them with the CC mulching blade kit and two weeks ago I purchased a set if the extreme blades that CC also recommends. I was thinking one blade would have been at 3-9 and the other blade at 12-6, but no. Looks like some engineer that probably on crack came up with thus design. I even had a silly tech lady at CC tell me the blades are supposed to be in alignment and they will stretch during engagement. I just hung up the phone. Went to HD and looked at the two models they had and one seemed to be set at 3-9 and 12-6. While the other was something in between. So I am convinced that there isn't a set pattern they are installed as it really doesn't matter since there is 1/2 in clearance and couldn't contact each other anyway. Is this the way it's REALLY supposed to be???

Can't seem to find the location. Engine model is 1998 FC-150 and filter is about 2" long and looks like it fits in a hose. M78605 is filter number. Does it fit in the tank? How do you access? Thanks for the help!

What is the best plan / strategy to bring my lawn back.

I have 3/4 acre yard and right now only dealing with front yard. It's mostly OK, not bad at all. I don't water it, grass is sturdy and mostly grass.

I use weed killer (liquid bayer stuff) about twice a year. Just used it now. After application I have some "yellow" spots.

I also have some grass which is different from "main" grass. And it doesn't die when I appy weed killer. Makes sense, because its grass... Picture of one such "grass" attached, maybe you can recognize what it is..

Anyway. It's not bad in general, about 80-90% is grass. Remaining 10-20% with weeds either dead yellow spots right now or have this "other" grasses. I wonder how do I attack them? Can't just throw grass seads on top, right? What is the best/proper tool to use to get rid of thatch/unneded grass?

I guess I need to prepare soil, embed sead with a soil and cover with hay? Is that a best way to do it? Right now is a time to do it, it get's cooler in St Louis area and grass will have time to grow.

Basically, I'm wondering on what is the best and most practical way to fix spots on a lawn.

I also need some extra topsoil too as I need to fix some low spots (I feel when I mow). What is the best way to spread soil and compact it to make an even surface for mowing?

ENgine sounds half strengh, (blades turn pretty sure) but don't cut

My mower got stuck on a tree sapling, not the blades- but it somehow got stuck to the front of the engine. I pulled back to free it and all of the sudden my engine sound is half of what it was before. The blades move but don't cut. Can I do something to fix this or would anyone know how much it would cost to repair? I don't have much money and they want quite a bit to look at it alone. There is a little rubber thing on the front, maybe spark plug cap, that may have got tangled in the branch? Thanks

Craftsman 5hp 22" Weed Trimmer

Had a guy give me a Craftsman 5hp 22' push weed trimmer, model 536.773500. Said he had not used in two years and was not sure it would start. No gas in tank (which was clean). Got home. Pressure washed clean. Had oil. Pulled and cleaned air filter and added some carb cleaners to the carb without removing at this time. Put in gas with some Doc. Car and to my surprise it started on the second pull (first pull after that). Runs pretty smooth but I am sure I will need to clean carb and put in new spark plug.

My question is since I have no experience with this machine at all, can anyone who has tell me about it? Year is was made/sold? Value? Is it worth pulling the carb and giving a good cleaning? etc. Don't need it, but if I sell it I have no idea what to ask.

no fuel in engine on a lawn boy 5275

Briggs 6.75HP OHV on stanley 22" mower. HELP!

This is my first post and I never thought I would have to ask for help with a mower. I bought this mower at costco about ten years ago and its alway been a pain. The problem I have is the mover runs perfect when cold and starts first pull with three primes. As long as its running it runs perfect. When you shut it off to change bags or move the mower to the front yard it won't start. It will after a long cool down or I just pull the plug, blow some air into the cylinder and off I go again. So, It seems to be flooding. I bought a carb kit and rebuilt it. Even though there isn't much to rebuild. Still have the same issue. If you leave it sit and then start it, it blows black smoke out of the muffler. I'm at my wits end with this thing. Its been like this as long as I can remember. I have a very small lawn and it gets very little use. I alway store it properly as well. The only thing that ever went wrong with it was the key sheared on the shaft. I'm going to start to look at the rocker arm cleanances next. It seems to have good compression hot and cold. Just really looking at some advice with this thing. Just really fustrated with it. Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks

Parts of Lawn will just not grow grass!

Hi all I am new here so sorry if this has been covered before.

A few years ago I turned over and levelled my entire back garden (yard) because the grass was awful and trees roots had made it uneven. After re-seeding there is just one bit down near the bottom under the canopy of a large lime (linden) tree where the grass grows sparingly then dies. I'll list what I have tried again and again over the years.

Re-seed several times a year every year.

Re-seeded with special grass that can thrive in a shady area.

Fertilised it again and again. Being careful not to over feed.

Very careful when raking that part of the lawn in Autumn.

I am pretty sure that the shade is not the problem because directly to the left of this area is equally in the trees shade and the new shade resistant grass as growing thickly. Also down the left hand side of the lawn runs a high hedge which blocks the light. That is shadier than the area near the tree and grass grows fine there although it does have a moss problem.

What else can I do to get the grass to grow thick and lush?

I know come late Autumn I'll be looking at bare soil and mud again.

thanks

Repairs Briggs and Stratton fuel tank thread sheared! Repair?

Hi all I am new.

I have a Sovereign SV405 lawn mower with a Briggs and Stratton 450 148cc engine.

The problem I am having is the bit of the engine (don't know what you would call it!) where the fuel tank screws onto has snapped in half or sheared off. I have tried using a nut and some cable ties but nothing I try will connect the petrol tank to the engine and it wobbles and rattles about. This has already snapped the intake manifold.

Is there anyway to repair this? I am not sure if it's safe to weld a nut onto it or something.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Price Check F525....how much to ask for it?

I am buying a new Kubota Kommander. I have a 1993 JD F525 48" deck with 680 hours and the factory light kit installed. Both belts are new and have 2 spare short belts to go with it. Also a new battery and 3 new blades installed 3 months ago. Seat and body are in excellent condition. Can anyone give me some advice on a respectable price to get for it. Don't want to scare people away but don't want to give it away for less than its real value either.

Thanks in advance.

How long do EZTs last?

I currently have a 42" Fastrak that I got new in '07. I have approximately 280 hours on the machine and have not had any trouble so far with the EZT Hydros. The manual says that they are sealed for life. I mow 1.25 acres a week and it takes about 75 to 80 minutes a cut. What life expectancy can I expect from the EZT transmissions?

I have another thread going currently about an '09 Fastrak with ZT2800 Hydros that I'm considering buying. The machine only has 35 hours on it. The ZT-2800 are serviceable as I understand it. With 280 hours on my EZTs and a machine with 35 hours on ZT-2800s that I can hopefully pick up for less than $2500, should I make the switch?

Thanks for any help.

Oil in head chamber?

Removed my B-S 5.5 hp engine from mower deck which had rusted out. Want to get it ready to sell but will not start. Engine was turned upside down once or twice after oil had been drained. Would any oil that had gotten into carburetor during that time be the cause of my problem? Before being removed from deck, the engine would start on 2nd or 3rd pull after priming. Your thoughts from experience would be welcomed. Thanks,

No Spark even with new magnetron - HELP!

I have a Snapper Model 281011BTE mower with a 10 hp B&S Model 254707 Type 0124-01 engine with magnetron ignition. It was running fine while cutting and unexpectedly just cut off - in middle of yard. I checked and no spark so first put a new plug in - still no spark. I then took off the cover and disconnected the shut off wire. Still no spark. I then figured it was the magnetron so I got a new one. I adjusted it to 0.010" gap between magnet on flywheel. I also cleaned the bottom of the magnetron and the engine to be sure it made a connection. Still no spark. I also checked the crankshaft key which seems fine, too. I finally got another new magnetron to check thinking the first might have been defective and still no spark. Any other ideas?

I was told by my local dealer than if there is no spark to the plug, it must be the magnetron but that there is no good way to check it without putting it on the engine. Engine turns over with no problem using electric starter. One issue I wondered about is that the part number for the magnetron has changed so I wonder if there might be a problem there. But the replacement number according to the book calls for the B&S like I got. Any help would be much appreciated.

Crankcase pressure - blowing oil

Tune up kits

Just joined Lawn World and also just bought a house with 2.6 acres of lawn to be mowed. I also bought the sellers John Deere 145 Automatic. I think it's about 10 years old, no manual. I've been told that you can buy tune up kits at Lowes, etc. Used it twice and was cutting very uneven. Got to poking around and noticed 3 broke bolts holding center pulley. In the shop now. Anyone use a "battery tender" during the winter? Thanks.

PTO problem?

Scag Turf Tiger zero turn -

When PTO is engaged ammeter shows discharge and never recovers. Voltage at PTO harness connector when disconnected is 13.8 + volts with increased rpm and shows the same between battery terminals. With PTO harness connected the ammeter shows a constant discharge when PTO is engaged...also battery voltage drops to 12.4 volts and never increases regardless of rpm. Is there a procedure to do an electrical test on this PTO?

Who has a cover for their HRX 217 that actually fits?

Can someone recommend a cover that fits this mower while the handle bars in the unfolded position?

John Deere 510.......help !!!

I'm having quite a bit of trouble with the main belt on my jd 510

does anybody on this forum own a 510 that could help me out?

the main belt appears to be rubbing on an area just in front of the double pulley under the seat. my local dealer "fixed" it today and for $435.00, my belt broke 15 min after I got it home. I'm madder than a wet hen but would really like to see a picture of how this belt set up is supposed to be. I'm hardly convinced that the bohanzes at the shop knew what they were doin!

any ideas would be great.....( btw.....I ve been completely through the online Manuel)

1989 cub cadet 1720 hydro

The hydro has oil and the fan turns but no forward or reverse. Noticed splined shaft does not rotate. I see that I can get parts. Is this a major undertaking ? I do most repairs myself but don't want to get way over my head. Thanks for any help. Mower is in GREAT shape other wise.

Governor static adjustment for 126T020675B2

Had disassembled top half of engine to overhaul carburetor and reseal intake runner because of no-start problem, after ensuring I had spark, air, and got it to run on starting fluid. Had to disconnect governor lever to unhook linkage; referenced marked the gov. shaft before disassembling. Reassembled - now it runs full speed only. Probably changed an adjustment somehow. Time to start from square 1......what's the step by step?

Used Fastrak 48" with 19 hp Kawasaki

I just ran across a used Hustler Fastrak with a 48' deck and the 19hp Kawasaki motor. Based on the serial number it is an '09, bought in Sept. of '11 and only has 35 hours on the meter. I'm pretty sure I could get it for less than $3000. Hopefully more like $2500. Anyway, what do you folks know about these? I'm assuming that the Kaw is a good motor. Any known problems with this model?

I'm not new to Hustler. I've got an '07 Fastrak with 42" deck and 17hp Kohler single. It's built like a tack but I'm starting to have electrical issues. Also the 42" deck only cuts a path 36" wide. I've measured. So my current Hustler is seven years old and I mow and for roughly 75 to 85 minutes a cut from late March to Early November. (Giving you a rough idea of hours since it has no meter) The 48 I'm considering is five years old but only has 35 hours by the meter. I think it's a good deal if I can get it for close to $2500 and there are no known problems that would be considered a 'show stopper'.

Any thoughts on the Fastrak 48 with Kaw motor will be appreciated.

Edited to add: I've had no problems so far with the hydros or whatever they are called. Are they usually considered reliable or did I luck out so far? I think the hydros on the machine I'm considering are 2800 series. Model number is 928275.

subasm drive repair?

I think my subasm drive is not functioning on my Craftsman 30" mower (Model No. 917.28001). Is there a way to test it before I spend $$$? It seems to be leaking oil, and maybe it ran out of oil, but I couldn't find a fill oil.

thanks

Fuel in the crankcase?

I picked up a JD LX255 for parts but noticed the engine had compression so I figured I'd take a shot at it. Almost all of me engine repair work has been with horizontal shaft engines, and mostly older ones at that so my experience with larger vertical shaft engines is quite limited. I have no experience with Kohler engines. This JD has a 15 hp Kohler, Model CV15S, Spec # 41571, Family: SKH426U1G2RB.

The engine would start using starter fluid and would stay running (barely, and rough at that) with continuous spray of starter fluid but it smoked terribly and would eventually die. I figured I had a carb fuel delivery issue and a blown head gasket. So I finally got the OHV and head removed, much more difficult than an old horizontal Briggs! When I removed the head I noticed a mix of gas and oil running a steady stream out of the valve rod openings. Since my experience with these engines is limited I didn't know if that much oil should be coming out of there but the fuel in the oil was very concerning. I didn't see any significant defects in the head gasket. The cylinder head was good, valves looked good, cylinder bore was spotless. I drained the oil and it was obvious there was a lot of gas mixed in the oil.

Without tearing this engine down any further at this point, can someone tell me what I am likely dealing with? I wondering if it's worth going any further.

MTD 601 will not start

Here we go. I bought this yesterday and it worked fine. I was cutting the grass and the blades stopped moving then loads of blue smoke can up from under the mower deck. I turned off the tractor and waited. After 30min i tried to start it again. Nothing. I moved it to my garage, cleaned out the mower deck of grass and tried again. Nothing.

Indications

I put in the key and nothing shows up on the digital gauge, no noise at all.

Troubleshooting steps

Checked the battery - 12.2v

Checked the fuse - OK

Tried to find a wiring diagram to check the electrical, I am guessing that is the problem, or any help that anyone can provide

721D running rough at 1/4 tank

This problem just started...Mower runs fine for an hour then the rpms drop and almost dies, wait a minute and the rpms pick up and when you start moving the does it again. Looking at the fuel return line you see that there is not a lot of fuel running through the line, even looks like the fuel is just laying there. If I fill the 9 gallon tank up, the mower runs fine till you get below 1/4 tank. I thought maybe water was in the fuel but that wouldn't make sense since it only runs rough at below 1/4 tank.....Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....Thanks!

Dixon Kodiak 50 2006 commercial with Honda GXV620 wont start

Starting issue:

Loaded onto trailer after job and got back to shop...went to off load and no cranking power at all.

Battery checks 12v ...both connections nice and clean

Checked with multi meter the 2 handle interlock switches and both good

Brake safety switch good

Seat switch good

Circuit breaker not popped out

Replaced ignition switch and key...nothing

I don't see a fuse anywhere to check

Pos cable to starter is tight

I don't see a solenoid on this model and cant see one on a diagram

just get a few sparks at the starter when grounding out with screwdriver to frame...wont spin

Mounted to frame on the inside to the right just below the gas tank and key switch is an off silver type box with wires....two bolts to frame...I don't know what it is called and cant find a description on a diagram.....looks like it regulates electric current maybe

Anyway...I am at a loss as to what else to test out here. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Old reliable

I have a Murray 5.75 Quantum mower that I call Ol reliable. I have had my Murray for sometime, well the other day my rope broke so like an idiot I took it apart, put the rope back in and the durn thing did not want to retract, so after numerous tries I finally got it to retract now thin is before I put in back on , well once I got it back on I yanked on the rope and it locked on me, I could hear those little plastic swivel pieces not letting the rope retract. Does anybody have and suggestion on what I should do?

Repairs HRR216 SDA Cable, Clutch Install

Acquired a nice little HRR216 SDA MZCG 6096620, tonight from a guy who was just plain tired of messing with it. Said the self propelled no longer worked. Well I inspected everything and determined that at least the "cable, clutch" was broken at the tranny end. As far as I could tell, the guts of the tranny seemed to function properly when I opened it for inspection. One thing that puzzles me is it looks like there are two different places that the cable could mount to under there. So I'm not sure he had it in the proper location to begin with. I've searched high and low and can't seem to find a photo or diagram of how the cable is properly routed and installed. Any help with this would be appreciated.

BTW, Put fresh oil and gas in it and it runs great!

Simplicity Champion Z-turn Hydraulic issue

Hello-

New to this forum. Could not find a FAQs link but I may have missed it. My Champion Zero turn has developed a shuddering/rapid jerking motion when I make a turn in either direction. When the problem started I replaced the filter topped off the oil. That made no difference. Straight motion forward or reverse is smooth but doesn't not seem to go as fast as it once did. I think the right wheel is the culprit but am not sure. Has anyone else experienced this issue with their zero turn? I'm thinking it may be either the pump or the hydraulic motor on one or perhaps both sides. However since these are very expensive parts I would like to be able to positively isolate the problem rather than just throw parts at it. Any help/ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Toro LX500 will not move question

I have a Toro LX-500 model 13AP60RP744 and while cutting the grass it just stopped.

I thought it was a broken drive belt. I checked the belt and it seemed loose but not broken. So I put it back in gear and attempted to go forward. Smoke came from under the tractor where the drive pulley is. I figured from the burnt rubber smell the belt was slipping on the pulley. It turned out the belt was NOT broken, but it was in bad condition. There were few pieces, chunks missing.

I replaced the belt (what a pain) and to me it still seems loose. After replacing the belt I have the exact same result, the tractor does not move and there is a burnt rubber smell. I don稚 see any places where a tension spring is missing and I checked the yard and did not find one. Any ideas what is wrong?

Repairs H3222K whines when I depress the pedal

Hello everyone, I'm a new member to this forum.

I have a Ferris H3222K 70" deck (from the mid 90's) making a whining noise

When I press the pedal to go forward or reverse the mower makes a whining noise. The noise is constant when the pedal is depressed in either direction.

I feel like it is a transmission issue.

What I'm planing to do:

1. check for leaks

2. check the belt

3. check to see if the fan is still there and working properly

4. try to bleed the hydraulic lines (just in case an air bubble has gotten in)

5. jack the mower up and see if it still makes any whining noise while the wheels are not under load

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please let me know

Thank you

Engine John Deere LT160 carburetor

New to this forum but already finding it very helpful! I took the carburetor apart on my:

JD LT160

Kohler engine model # CV460s

Spec # 26516

I cleaned it all up and remounted to the engine block and it started right up! Great!! However, I can't for the life of me figure out where a "left-over" piece belongs. It's a rubber/soft plastic cap looking thing, very small. A small regular nail head would fit into the opening (it's open on one end but not open on the other). Almost like a grommet. I've looked at all the diagrams online, etc. and I can't seem to figure out if this rubber piece is part odf the carb or something else. I was able to raise lower engine speed after re-assembly and choke seems to work as well (wants to stall the engine when going from high RPM's to the choke position). I did disconnect both linkages for the throttle and choke in order to remove the carb. Need advice, help!! If more info is required just ask. Thanks.

Craftsman rider electrical problem - won't start or turn over, just clicks

Mower started and was mowing just fine. Turned it off to dump bagger, and now ignition just "clicks" when key turned. Battery is charged and terminals clean.

Vintage is about 2001, 16 HP OHV Briggs. Never had a problem before. What/how to check??

I, this week purchased a 2014 Troy Bilt Horse XP (46") Battery in under the drivers seat now not in the engine compartment. I wish to disconnect or by pass the disengagement of rear blades so That I may mow in both forward and reverse. Can some one with knowledge help?

If I jump start the mower it will start and run. If I let off the brake it dies. without the jump it will not start at all. the battery is good with a full charge. I've test the solinoid and it is good. I have seen other things mention that the "brake saftey switch" is bad or out of adjustment. can anyone tell me where it is located or what my problem can be?

Engine Help with OIL Leaker

hi, guys, I am new to this forum and you guys are doing a wonderful work helping each other.

I wanted to see if I can get some helping getting my hands oily fixing my toro recycler that just began to leak oil after oil change.

After two nights of the mower just sitting there, this is what I see: 20140828_082341.jpg20140828_082405.jpg20140828_082420.jpg

I think its coming from the base of the engine as you can see.

How can I go about fixing this?

Is it worth fixing?

Your help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Newbie saying hello, need advice also.

Have been musing around on the CC site. I note first of all there's no bashing or smart alecks when a question is asked. That's commendable and different from a couple other sites I visit...Kudoes.

I just bought a CC rzt-s42 and pretty much happy with it. I'd wanted a single blader, but none to my satisfaction available.

Now to my quest for help. Mowing slowly, as along a fence line any time I touch the steering wheel left the mower will surge forward. Also when parked with wheels straight ahead, parking brake off, engine running slow, if I touch the wheel left the mower will move forward. Moving the wheel to the right the mower remains in place. Also, I sense the steering to the left is harder than to right. Tire pressure is same side to side, only 7 hours on meter, all I've done is changed oil/fil., lubed and adjusted deck. Have not hit any objects.

Could this be a simple adjustment or is it time to take to shop...40 miles one way.

TIA,

Jim

New to lawn boy - questions (with pics)

Hello all. I recently came into a Lawn Boy mower my dad and I spotted in a yard with a "free" sign on it. Being familiar with and having done quite a bit of small engine work, I thought it'd be fun trying to get this thing running again. I lack familiarity with Lawn Boys, however. It's a model 7229, serial number 8925294. Deck is in good shape, just normal wear on the paint and such. Wheels will work for now, but will eventually need replacing. I would appreciate any info anyone can provide about this mower. Most important right now, however, are questions I have about the engine, the carburetor, the best way to find parts. I'm attaching some photos. The shots of the engine block are simply for identification of the type of engine it has. I believe it is an F100 engine. If any additional photos are needed to confirm that, just let me know.

The shots of the carb are for the following purposes:

1) Identify the carb and the carb rebuild kit I need to get into working order.

2) To determine whether or not the crack in the housing around the carb adjustment screw renders the carb useless and therefore needs to be replaced.

Some immediate triage to move me toward getting the thing running:

1) Rebuild/replace the carb

2) Install a new primer bulb

3) Install a new air vane in the carb as the old one broke and won't hold the disk in place anymore.

Thanks for any help offered.

Repairs JS45 Momentum is expelling White smoke

I own a JS45. I have replaced the air filter, spark plug and the lawn mower literally has white smoke bellowing out and the engine seems to rev really high. This even continued after oil change and new gas.

Does anyone know if that is a sign of a fuel filter issue, carburetor or other. I am semi-competent on repairing but concerned this may be a blown engine.

Since the last cut, I have drained the machine of oil and gas. It is empty of both at this time so part purchase or other would be easier.

Please advise a cleaner or other info as I am frustrated and worry that the cost for parts/repair vs the value of the machine. I personally have loved it up until this year.

Cub Cadet RZT 42 clicks and Battery cables melting when trying to start

I Picked up an RZT 42 with a blown 17 HP kohler engine, I replaced the Engine with no issues.

When I tried to start it for the first time:

Handles in Neutral position, PTO off, braked on, etc. Upon turning the key I can/could hear a click from under the right panel (not the starter) after trying it a half dozen times and getting the same result click, click, click every time on turn the key to start I noticed the wires on the battery getting REAL hot and melting

Suggestions on what to look for???

Honda HRX217HYA starting instructions

I have been starting my Honda HRX217HYA by pushing the engine speed lever all of the way up, pulling the starting cord and leaving it that way. Have to admit that it looks a little awkward in that position but the instructions seem to say to do this. When having it tuned up last week the technician said that that was the choke position and that I should pull it back back a bit (where it looks more normal). Which is the right way? There is nothing labelled on the lever indicating it is the choke position. Also, I thought this lawn mover had an auto choke. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Ed

Kohler engine surging

I have a one year old Husqvarna 24 hp with a Kohler V twing SV725 engine. About a month ago it started surging. I drained the gas and cleaned the carb but no help. So I replaced the carb. Ran great for about two weeks, now it's surging again. I'm running 93 octane, ethanol free gas. I'm at wit's end. Kohler refuses to honor warranty on anything that may be remotely fuel related. They said that any other defect would have shown up before now. I could really use some help on this one.

Lawn Boy 5236 Low Power Problem

Hi,

I have a lawn boy mower (5236 d-400 series) that is giving me problems to no end. It has problem starting (even after priming) and when it finally starts, it has very low power. My lawn has very short grass and the moment I push the mower there it just sputters and then dies. It's easier to start when hot but the low power problem still persists.

The plug is in good working condition, the ignition coil is new, and so are the seals. The only thing I am not sure about is the carburetor and governor.

Changing the lever from normal to heavy doesn't seem to affect the power in any way.

I had the carburetor cleaned some time back but seeing that I have been using it without the air filter, it may have took some dirt in. I tried to use a sponge in place of the air filter (which got lost) but the power got so low that the mower went off. I guess there wasn't sufficient air flow. I therefore had to do away with the sponge altogether.

Any help is appreciated.

Unanswered Query

OK I cleared the unanswered for the last 30 days. I hate when things fall through the cracks.

Before I do the wrong thing I better ask

For a long time I have had one of the best looking yards in the neighborhood. I'm a retired United States Marine so it goes with the territory. I've had to fight hard to get it to my likening. That is until this year. I had an older gentleman move in two doors up and he introduced himself as Jim my "competitor". With a smile of course. In the end I found out he owned a large local sod farm. What a gold mine if information. I had been using all kinds of products and watering to the point of owing a swamp. He introduced me to 46-0-0. Holy smokes! I use that with some Scott's for root growth and now I have a huge putting green for a lawn and I have cut my watering bill in half.

So now for the problem. It grows so fast I need to mow twice a week but I rarely have time. What has happened now is I have many areas where the grass won't stand up to get cut even with my good double bladed Honda mower. Side note. That mower is a solid ten star piece of equipment. Anyway I always cut it at 2.5 inches and do a second cut to get the diamond pattern which always gets a second bag of clippings.

My thought is to just one time drop the deck a half inch to two inches to suck up the the unruly stuff. My concern is that height takes it down to mostly brown. Question. Other than looking terrible for a week or two am I looking at hurting the grass and secondly if successful can I continue to use that lower setting and have the grass adapt or get use to that new height. I would appreciate and help. I just don't want to do something stupid. Thank you. Gunny

Mulching walk behind, anyone else had problems with Husqvarna?

My1st post so I hope this is in the right place.

I mow about 1 acre with an old Kubota tractor and topper, but chose a ï½£900/ 1500?USD Husqvarna LB553SE 'professional' mulching mower for the area round the house thinking it would last for years. It's about 2 months old and I suppose I've used it about 6 times. The bolt holding the blade sheared last week, leaving the body of the bolt in the engine shaft. The dealer I bought it from told me I probably hit a stone and the repair won't be covered by warranty. This seems like a either a poor warranty or poor design - I would have thought a shear pin or slipping friction washer arrangement (like the Stiga it replaced) would make more sense.

Is this just bad luck on my part or have other people had bad experience with this model?

It's about 2 months old and I suppose I've used it about 6 times. The bolt holding the blade sheared last week, leaving the body of the bolt in the engine shaft. The dealer I bought it from told me I probably hit a stone and the repair won't be covered by warranty. This seems like a either a poor warranty or poor design - I would have thought a shear pin or slipping friction washer arrangement (like the Stiga it replaced) would make more sense.

Is this just bad luck on my part or have other people had bad experience with this model?

Replacing the cone spindle bearings on my Dixon ZTR-428 transaxle

Was in the middle of mowing my back yard on Sunday, and suddenly heard a clink-screeeeeeeeeeech, and then the motor died. Tried turning the motor over to restart, and it wouldn't even turn. I couldn't turn the flywheel myself by hand either. Something was stuck. I removed the transaxle drive belt from the engine, and the engine cranked and ran normally. So......something is seized. My money is on one (or both) of the cone spindle bearings.

So I brought the mower into the garage (towed it in, actually) and removed the body cover. I put a big wrench on the top nut of the cone spindle, and worked it back and forth. I heard some metallic crunching, and then it finally let go. It's sort of turning freely now, but it still catches while rotating. Definitely a bearing failure. I need to get the high speed bearings replaced on the cone drive spindle.

I spent a few minutes examining the transaxle assembly, and eventually worked out that removing it was as simple as removing two bolts from the rear, and loosening 2 J-hooks in the front, after removing the drive chains.

Now that I have the transaxle out and on the bench, I'm starting disassembly to get at the cone frame assembly. I referenced the service manual to get the parking brake assembly removed, and I'm just a bit beyond that, but I'm having trouble figuring out what's next.

Has anyone disassembled this transaxle before? The service manual is pretty vague about next steps after the parking brake assembly removal.

Repairs Ferris IS1500 Hyd. Belt problem

I have an IS1500 with a 21hp Kawasaki, 48 inch cut, and broke the bonded belt on hyd. at 175 hours no big deal. I replaced with a Gates brand belt and it didnt last 20 hours, so I went back to Ferris dealership and got another one. Now the new belt will ride up on the left hyd. pump and get against the frame of mower and start smoking. I have checked the pullys everything looks and spins good, I set the tension on the belt just like the manual says. It will run a couple hours before it does it, I thought maybe sweet gum balls where getting between belt and pully but it has done it when I was cutting where there was no sweet gum trees. I thought about changing the tension spring to see if that would help. Any suggestions?

Subaru engine runs only with choke nearly full on, Mikuni carb

Hello,

I have a Subaru engine which only runs with the choke nearly full on (80-90%). The carburetor is a Mikuni, very similar to the one shown here: http://ift.tt/1ldZL29

The site above does a nice job identifying the different parts of the carb for me. I'm new to working on small engines (engines of any size, actually). I've taken the carb off and sprayed with a cleaner which made the carb look much nicer but has not noticeably effected how it performs. I'm thinking of taking it to a small engine shop to have it soaked overnight. I'm posting to ask if it makes any sense to try turning some of or all of the screws to try to improve the performance, before soaking.

I read Sheryle's post "off brand" where a two cleanings, a full disassembly and custom-made gaskets solved a similar problem. I've only seen instruction on removing the float on this carb and am cautious to try disassembling it completely, seeing that replacement carbs are approx. $100 and the engine does run with this one. Not so certain I wouldn't damage something to the point the carb is no longer functional if I set out trying to completely disassemble it (that and I'd rather have a full understanding of what each screw, hole, jet, etc does first).

Thanks for any assistance!

slow filling gas tank

I just bought a new Simpicity rider and it takes forever to fill the gas tank. It acts like it gets an air lock. You can only out a small amount in at a time and wait for it to go down. I've had older models and never had this problem. Has anyone else had this problem or heard of a cure for it? Thanks Don

Dixon engine exchange

I just installed a new B&S 21R707, 10.5hp engine in a 2001 model 3303 Dixon ZTR. Does anyone know how to hook up the electrical connections?

I connected the single black wire on the new engine to a similar black wire which was in the old setup. On the old set up there is something on the wire like maybe a resistor. I can start the mower and use its features but the ignition key does not shut down the engine after it is running. The new B&S engine has a red and white wire with a larger female plastic connector attached. The mating connector has approx. 8" to 10" of like wires with approx. 1/2" od the insulation removed.

Any ideas????.

Thanks,

Jim

Engine Engine rough and smokes

I just acquired an MTD riding mower Model 13AN678G022 with a Briggs 313777 OHV engine. It smokes and runs rough. It also does not seem to come up to full speed. The throttle is adjusted properly. The oil was overfilled, so I drained it (seemed very thin) and replaced with fresh 30 W and also changed the oil filter. I still have the smoking and rough running problem. Tomorrow I will check and see if the choke is stuck closed , but I don't think this is the problem, as this doesn't account for the smoke. The dipstick is sealing properly. Any suggestions for diagnosing this problem?

Thanks Robert

Repairs CRAFTSMAN DLS 3500 VTS INFORMATION

gravely or john deere

we are buying a house and thought the seller was giving us a chance to buy an ariens max zoom 60 with the Kawasaki. It is looking like the sellers may have changed their mind and we need to think about another ZTR.

The John Deere dealer close to us that we like also sells Gravely. After talking to him, and giving him a price range, he is recommending the following ZTR's

Deere Z915B, Gravely pro turn 60, or gravely 160. he is not too excited about the deere Z665.

What are you thoughts about these? Which one would you buy? Should I consider another brand?

All these are 60 inch cut with Kawasaki engine and are priced from 6500 to 7900.

Your experienced help and knowledge will be appreciated

Dixon Dilemma

Would you buy a Dixon now that they are being discontinued by Husqvarna? My local dealer said his district sales manager wants him to sell them at dealer cost to get them out of inventory. My dealer has an Ultra 52 with the Kohler engine and ZT3100 trans and a DX160 which is to big for my needs. The quoted price for the Ultra 52 was $4200 with a MSRP of $4900. I would prefer the Ultra 52 SE which has the Kawasaki engine with the ZT3400 trans. I have not asked if he can get this model since its not at his shop. The Ultra series are essentially a Husqvarna M-ZT 52 with a different engine/trans which have gotten excellent reviews here. The Husqvarna best price with the B&S engine is $4750 on line so it sounds like a good deal to get the Dixon and he would honor all the warranty items. Over time I have had a Pontiac and Oldsmobile and when GM cut them and I never had a problem with service or parts. My current mower is a Hustler Sport with has been discontinued for the Raptor series. Don't know if its my luck to buy and then they are discontinued. Any thoughts on Dixon would be appreciated.

John Deere lx 279 Kawasaki 17 H.P. Fuel Pump question

I have a John Deere lx 279 with a 17 h.p. Kawasaki engine. The fuel pump is squirting gas out of the weep hole. It's still running good, but raw gas on the exhaust is not good.

I have been looking for a replacement fuel pump and they are crazy high. This mower is old and not worth a lot. Any ideas where I could find the best deal on a fuel pump. My research says it is Kawasaki Part # 99916-2164.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks

DYS 4000 Starting Problem

DYS 4000 24hp - 42" cut. Wires were cut to ignition switch. Had someone wire them back. He only had a little electric tape but it worked. Now I was mowing, went in a hole on the left side, but the mower pulled right out then it just cut off. No sputter, Nothing, Just went dead. Well the engine turns over with no problem-it is getting gas-there is fire at the spark plugs-but the other change is now the engine will turn over when I don't sit on the seat. I thought the seat kill switch, because it was working properly, but I shorted over the switch (or hope I did) and still no starting. Any ideas?

Mower deck Deck spindle and idler bracket

Should I be applying oil to these two items? Confused here. Any help would be appreciated.

Snow blower JD 300 Snow Blower in Minnesota

After last winter's snowfall (in MN), I bought a 2012 JD 300 rider with a snow blower attachment in hopes it would help with some snow removal. It failed miserably, mostly due to the fact that we live in a windy hilltop so wind-driven snow is packed hard and the drive wheels just slipped. I also have an WD-45 with a huge snow bucket, to be used when/if it gets really bad. But, it takes forever to remove drifts from a 500 ft. driveway (East-West).

I am considering selling/trading the JD snowblower attachment and buying a used Inland Steel PTO driven blower for my WD-45. I should be able to make it work at an almost even trade. Looking for input on either the JD snowblower and/or the Inland snowblower (esp. how well it works).

Attachments 1040 vs 1050 bagger

Will a bagging attachment for a 1050 fit on a 1040.

Universal Oil

I have 4 2 cycle devices, 2=40:1 and 2=50:1. My problem is I do not use enough of either to mix up 2 separate gallons. My Sthil dealer sold me some universal oil that should work with anything to 50:1, but the 40:1 trimmer does not seem to like it as well. Any suggestions? Would the 40:1 work in my Sthil chain saw and Ryobi trimmer? I use good quality alcohol free gas for the mix. A gallon will last all Summer. I have a chain saw, 2 trimmers, and a mini tiller. I a perfect I would get Sthil brand everything.

Cleaning up after cutting bushes

What is the best method y'all have found on either cleaning out flower beds after trimming bushes and shrubs or keeping it clean while cutting them? Currently if I have a lot of bushes to trim I just let them fall to the ground then I take my blower ( Stihl BG86) and blow the clippings into the yard and rake them up, or if I have just a couple of bushes I will lay old bed sheets down like a tree shirt and let the clippings fall onto that. Just trying to find the best way to make clean up faster and easier.

Like a confirmation on issue

Bought an older 2006 MTD yard machine with honda 5.5 hp engine. Starts up fine on second or third pull. Surges. So I know to check/clean carb, air filter, and fuel to start with. Pulled carb and found no gaskets at all. Not one at any part. Put it back on as is until I order gaskets. Now still starts fine but does not seem to get Rpms up to speed at full throttle. Sooooooo. Am I right to assume it is wrong have carb with no gaskets and it may be the cause if my surging issues and now the seeming not to get up to full throttle?

Repairs toro z4200 bogging engine

I am working on a toro z4200. Original kohler was replaced with a tecumseh 22hp v twin. Hydros are causing engine and blades to bog down. Blades are sharp, all belts are good, service kit installed on deck. Grass mowed is not tall at all. The hotter it gets the worse it bogs until it will barely move and it wants to kill the engine. Could the belt for the hydros be too tight somehow? Motor runs like a top so I pretty much think its in the hydros somewhere just dont know where to go with it. Pull them, drain and fill with new oil? This one has me stumped. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Toro m#74360.
