I have just complete a rebuild on my Honda GXV 120 engine that was on my HR 214 Mower. New rings etc. It started and ran ok prior to the rebuild but had no power and smoked A LOT. I also disassembled the clutch and blade stop for inspection. It was working ok and the wear doesn't look too bad. I have a shop manual that I used during re-assembly. Now the problem. The only way I can turn the engine flywheel is to press the blade engagement lever all the way to the handle. That puts the blade in "free wheeling". I have taken it apart again and carefully put it together according to the shop manual and everything seems to be in order. The roto stop cable is pulling the ball control plate back about half inch and that frees up the engine. If I don't press the lever for this cable there is no way the engine will turn without a lot of effort. Any suggestions? Like I said the roto stop assembly and clutch assembly worked fine before the tear down. Thanks for any suggestions. The mower was purchased around 1987.
